Simmons wins District 2 run-off election

Baldwin County held its Municipal General Election Run-Off Dec. 2, for the city council District 2 race between Arlene Simmons and Brooks Snider.

Simmons won the election by securing nearly 78 percent of the votes Tuesday. She received 77 votes, representing 77.78 percent of the vote, to Snider’s 22 votes.

“This victory is not mine alone. It belongs to every neighbor who believed in change, every elder who prayed, every youth who dared to dream, and every hand that lifted this movement forward,” Simmons posted to her campaign Facebook page following the win.

Simmons stated she is “honored, humbled, and ready to serve” her district starting January. Her primary goals as a member of city council, according to an email sent to The Baldwin Bulletin, are to strengthen the local economy, ensure District 2 has a voice, create “community-based solutions” to lower crime in the district, and increase citizen safety.

“We will build a stronger, safer, and brighter District 2, where every voice is valued, and every future has promise. This is our win, and our work begins now,” Simmons wrote on her Facebook.

Simmons closed the night on a live on her personal Facebook, partying and celebrating with her supporters Dec. 2 wearing patriotic attire. She can be seen dancing with everyone and hugging supporters as the MC hypes her victory. Scan the QR code to view her livestream.

“She (Arlene Simmons) loves the people. I know that for a fact,” said the person hosting the live.
