BCSD superintendent named to Leadership Academy

>> BALDWIN COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT

Baldwin County School District Superintendent Dr. Kristina Brooks was selected as one of 20 superintendents from across Georgia to join the inaugural cohort of the Georgia Superintendents’ Workforce Leadership Academy, a collaboration between the University of Georgia Carl Vinson Institute of Government and Georgia Power.

The new academy is designed to strengthen district and community workforce development initiatives by equipping educational leaders with the tools, partnerships, and insight needed to align K-12 education with Georgia’s evolving economic landscape. Participants will learn from state and national workforce experts, collaborate with fellow superintendents, and receive individualized coaching to advance innovative career-readiness strategies.

“K-12 schools play a vital role in workforce development by providing the skills and knowledge students need to succeed in their future careers,” said Greg Wilson, institute associate director and workforce expert. “The Georgia Superintendents’ Workforce Leadership Academy empowers superintendents to create stronger pathways from the classroom to the workforce, benefitting both students and their communities.”

Brooks said the honor reflects Baldwin County’s ongoing commitment to excellence and to preparing every student for life beyond graduation.

“I’m deeply honored to represent Baldwin County in this inaugural academy,” said Brooks.

“Our district believes that every graduate should be employed, enlisted, or enrolled, and this opportunity allows us to further strengthen that mission. By building strong partnerships between education, business, and community, we can continue creating pathways that prepare our students, not only for successful careers, but for meaningful contributions to the future of Baldwin County.”

The program will consist of four workshops between October and April, along with participation in Georgia’s Workforce Conference in Athens this November. As part of the academy, each superintendent will complete a capstone project focused on a workforce development initiative tailored to their district’s needs.
