Dear Editor,
The Department of Community Affairs approved Baldwin County’s 2025 Revitalization Area Strategy for Oconee Heights. We earned an extra 14 points on our 2025 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application.
In an earlier press release, the county announced that it received a 2025 CDBG award for $1.25 million for sewer rehabilitation, in the Oconee Heights Target Area in Phase I of the strategy.
The project will benefit 223, of whom 217 (97%) are low-to-moderate-income persons. Additionally, it will fund the construction of two new houses that Habitat will build in Oconee Heights, benefiting six persons.
The total project cost is $1,626,989 with $376,989 in match and leverage.
The county thanks everybody who has had a hand in revitalizing neighborhoods.
Sincerely, Carlos Tobar, County Manager
