On June 4, while on uniform patrol, an officer was dispatched to Quality Pawn & Sales, 905 S. Wayne St., in reference to a reported forgery. The store owner stated on May 15 an individual, identified by the owner as Dmarrion Jackson, presented a check in the amount of $3,857.13 to be cashed. The check was issued by 5 Star Beauty Supply and Fashion, located at 1835 N. Columbia St. The owner called the phone number listed on the check to verify its legitimacy and spoke with a female who identified herself as “Amanda.” Amanda said the check was payment for plumbing services provided by Jackson at the store. The owner provided police a copy of a temporary Georgia driver’s license that Jackson used during the transaction and it was found to be fraudulent. On June 4, Exchange Bank advised that the check was fraudulent and failed to clear. The owner also spoke with a manager at 5 Star Beauty Supply who stated no one named Amanda worked at the location.
As of the press deadline, the subject identifying himself as Dmarrion Jackson had not been positively identified.
Man argues with females on trespassed property
On June 6, law enforcement was dispatched to a verbal altercation and trespassing at Bean Cats at 620 N. Jefferson St. Officers identified Brandon Marquis White at Exxon, 600 N. Jefferson St., and went to Bean Cats and spoke to management, who stated White was verbally being aggressive towards them in Exxon and that White was walking on the property of Bean Cats, after already being trespassed from the location. Video footage showed White walking to the Exxon by cutting through the property of Bean Cats. Then, White exited Exxon and engaged in what appeared to be a verbal altercation with multiple females in the parking lot of Exxon. White then walked into the parking lot of Bean Cats and was standing in the parking lot of Bean Cats and walking to the edge of the property line next to Exxon while continuing to verbally argue with the female before walking through the parking lot northbound on Jefferson Street. Officers originally gave White a verbal warning for cutting through the land of Bean Cats and warned White not to do it again or he would be arrested, and White was then released. After the reporting officer conferred with their supervisor and spoke to the complainants, however, a warrant for criminal trespass was issued for White.
Drunk driver passes out in drive-thru
On June 7, an officer was dispatched to Shrimp Boat, at 911 S. Elbert St., in reference to a male passed out behind the wheel of his vehicle in the drive-thru.
The driver, identified as Jamon Waller, appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. Another officer arrived on scene to conduct a standardized field sobriety test and found him unsafe to drive.
While Waller agreed to a roadside breath sample, he continuously used his tongue to stop the air from being read. At the jail, Waller gave a sample on the Intoxilyzer- 9000 and was issued a citation for DUI (refusal).
