The Baldwin County School District is the recipient of a second grant from the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation in support of player safety for student-athletes.
Baldwin High School will invest in new, state-ofthe- art protective gear that will enhance safety during practices and games.
Athletic Director Dexter Ricks shared that the district received $3,000 for the boys’ tackle football program and $5,000 for the girls’ flag football team. With these funds, the school purchased 60 new Guardian Caps, softpadded helmet covers that reduce the impact of head collisions during practice, helping to lower the risk of concussions.
The girls’ team also received Xenith Loop Guardian Caps, specially designed to offer protective padding while maintaining the flexibility and lightweight design required for flag football.
This new equipment will be put to use immediately as both teams gear up for summer training.
