The Baldwin County School District appointed Corian (Cory) Roberson as the new principal of Lakeview Academy, following approval by the Board of Education. A passionate educator and servant leader, Roberson brings with him a deeply rooted belief that every child can learn, grow, and be successful.
Roberson’s career reflects a steadfast commitment to fostering academic achievement, personal growth, and community engagement. Born in Augusta and raised in a military family, he experienced a wide range of educational environments, an experience that fueled his dedication to equity and access for all students. After his fmaily settled in Statesboro, he graduated from Statesboro High School and began his collegiate journey at Fort Valley State University before transferring to Brewton-Parker College, where he earned a bachelor of arts in middle grades education with a minor in Christian studies.
Driven by his belief in lifelong learning, Roberson later earned a master’s in education from Georgia Southern University and a second master’s in educational leadership from Georgia College & State University. He is currently pursuing his doctorate in educational leadership at Mercer University.
Throughout his 10 years in the Washington County School District, Roberson made a lasting impact as a fourth and fifth grade teacher and mentor, serving as grade chair and coordinator of the S.T.A.R.S. mentoring program for at-risk male students. Most recently, he has served as an administrator at Emanuel County Institute (ECI), where he has championed student success both in the classroom and in athletics.
Roberson’s leadership extends beyond education. An ordained minister who accepted his calling at the age of 16, he currently serves as pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Warthen, Ga. His commitment to faith, service, and family is the foundation of his work. He and his wife, Befaney, who he met while at Fort Valley State, are proud parents of three children: Corian Jr., Taylor, and Daniel. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, officiating high school and collegiate sports, and farming.
“Mr. Roberson embodies the heart of Baldwin County’s mission to serve the whole child,” said Superintendent Dr. Noris Price. “His combination of educational expertise, leadership experience, and deep community values makes him an exceptional addition to the Lakeview Academy team.”
