Milledgeville Mainstreet hosts Masters in Milly

Milledgeville Mainstreet hosted April’s First Friday: Masters in Milly on April 4 transforming downtown Milledgeville into a putt-putt course for the second annual Masters in Milly, where attendees played a ninehole course sponsored by local businesses.

Rather than strolling down Magnolia Lane in Augusta, participants leisurely played holes down Hancock and Greene Street, where each hole featured an exciting setup that any seasoned pro or newcomer could challenge themselves with.

Downtown Milledgeville businesses eagerly participated in the event, offering prizes and specialty treats at each hole.

A crowd favorite treat was the golf-themed sugar cookies provided by Lakeside Baptist Church, and attendees also enjoyed the Masters in Milly exclusive beverages from Bollywood Tacos and Metropolis Cafe. The lively event also featured music from Wide Open Entertainment that kept the fun going both on and off the course, as recognizable country and pop hits were played throughout the evening.

Georgia College & State University student Will Thomas is an avid First Friday fan, and was excited for the opportunity to show off his golf skills for April’s First Friday.

“Masters in Milly brought together two things I love, Milledgeville and golf,” said Thomas. “First Friday is always my favorite Friday of the month, and getting to experience the community at the events Milledgeville Mainstreet does is always a joy.”

Excitement was buzzing all evening as community members of all ages supported local businesses while teeing off at each hole. Masters in Milly brought a cheerful atmosphere to downtown that allowed for time spent celebrating community, and welcoming spring to Milledgeville.
