Man steals beanie from store

On Jan. 29, law enforcement was dispatched to the Jet Food Store, at 1740 N. Columbia St., in reference to a theft.

An employee advised that an unknown male entered the store and proceeded to grab a green beanie and walk towards the bathroom area. Upon review of camera footage, the male can be seen stuffing the green in color beanie into his hoodie pocket. The male then can be seen walking past the final point of sale and exiting the store.

Male continuously steals Jet Food Store

On Jan. 30, while on uniform patrol, law enforcement was dispatched to the Jet Food Store, at 1111 S. Wayne St., in reference to a theft. Video surveillance footage showed an unknown male stealing a 12-pack of Corona beer, valued at $19.32. In the footage, the suspect walked toward the bathroom, where the Corona was stored along the wall with other merchandise. The male took the merchandise, concealed it on his left side, approached the counter, and spoke with the clerk. The suspect then exited the store without paying for the item. The store manager advised that this individual has stolen from the store previously and frequently visits the location at night. They requested that if the suspect is identified, he be charged and trespassed from the property. The officer conducted an area search but was unable to locate the suspect.

Vehicle pursuit persists into cul de sac

On Jan. 30, while patrolling South Wayne Street, an officer observed a dark SUV that was traveling south fail to maintain its lane. As the vehicle went through the intersection with Caraker Avenue. The vehicle was going 52 miles per hour in a posted 40 mile per hour speed zone. As the vehicle passed Cook Street, the vehicle failed to maintain its lane again. The officer attempted a traffic stop and the vehicle began to slow down as if to turn onto Allen Memorial Drive and come to a stop. However, it passed Allen Memorial Drive and continued to drive recklessly. As the driver, later identified as Shawn Bloodworth, traveled south on Irwinton Road, they increased to speeds in excess of 80 miles per hour in a posted 40 mile per hour speed zone. Bloodworth drove the vehicle on the wrong side of the road numerous times, and nearly struck oncoming traffic. He turned left onto Pineway Drive, after nearly running into the ditch. Bloodworth continued traveling east on Pineway Drive, a residential neighborhood, at speeds in excess of 50 miles per hour in a posted 25 mile per hour speed zone. At the cul de sac, he braked and turned left, and the vehicle struck the mailbox of 192 Pineway Drive, and drove through the yard of that residence, before traveling back toward Irwinton Road. When the Sequoia reached Irwinton Road, a deputy was able to successfully deploy spike strips, which deflated the driver's side front tire. Bloodworth turned right (north) onto Irwinton Road. The driver continued to drive on the wrong side of the road at excessive speeds. Near the intersection with Caraker Avenue, Milledgeville Police Officers were able to successfully deploy a second spike strip, which deflated both passenger side tires. Bloodworth accelerated and reached speeds of 95 miles per hour in a posted 40 mile per hour speed zone, while driving on the wrong side of the road. He finally stopped the vehicle at the intersection of West Baldwin Street and South Wayne Street and fled on foot into the lot of G&S Gas before being taken into custody by Milledgeville police officers. During a search of the vehicle, the officer located a bag of suspected methamphetamine and suspected marijuana. The passenger, Sarah Wiggins, stated the methamphetamine and marijuana belonged to her.

Wiggins was arrested for possession of methamphetamine and an outstanding probation violation warrant. Bloodworth was transported to the hospital to be medically cleared and then to the jail to be booked on the charges of fleeing and attempting to elude, reckless driving on the wrong side of the road, failure to maintain lane, speeding, failure to obey traffic control device, duty to report accident with fixed object and his outstanding warrants.

Man threatens officers during arrest

On Jan. 30, while on patrol on Allen Memorial Drive, Deputy Alex Rickey observed a white Ford van without functioning tag lights. Rickey initiated a traffic stop at the intersection of Horace Veal Road and Hopewell Church Road. A GCIC check revealed that the registered owner of the vehicle, Timothy Donaldson's, driver's license was suspended. The driver, who was identified as Donaldson, was asked to

MORE CRIME WATCH >> B2 exit the vehicle. Donaldson reportedly lit a cigarette and stated he was going to smoke the cigarette before he went to jail. Rickey informed Donaldson he was not going to smoke the cigarette because he was going to be placed into the patrol car and Donaldson began to resist arrest. Donaldson began swinging his head back and forth, so he was informed that if he didn't stop resisting, he would be taken to the ground. Donaldson then spun around and attempted to strike Rickey’s head with his head and spit the lit cigarette into his face. Donaldson was escorted to the patrol car and placed into the back seat where he began head butting the partition and door window.

He continued to yell numerous threats and spit on the partition as he was transported to jail. Donaldson caused damage to the rear passenger door of the patrol car. As Donaldson was being placed into a holding cell, he reportedly stated he was going to kill another deputy and Rickey. Deputies located a glass pipe with suspected methamphetamine residue in a jacket on the driver seat of the vehicle. Warrants for felony obstruction of officers, two counts of felony terroristic threats, felony interference with government property, possession of drug related objects, and driving while license suspended were sworn against Donaldson.

Driver caught with marijuana

On Feb. 1, while patrolling the area of Irwinton Road, an officer observed a red Honda Civic with no tag lights displayed. The officer initiated a traffic stop and while speaking with the driver, identified as James Lowery, they detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle. Lowery admitted to there being an unknown amount of marijuana inside the vehicle. Lowery and the passenger were instructed to step out of the vehicle so a probable cause search of the vehicle could be conducted. During a search of the vehicle, the officer located a sealed box and a clear glass mason jar, containing a green leafy substance suspected to be marijuana. Lowery admitted that the suspected marijuana was his, although the marijuana was located in a purse on the floorboard on the passenger side. He stated the passenger is currently breastfeeding and she does not smoke marijuana. Lowery received one citation for tag lights required and one warrant for possession of marijuana less than one ounce.

Male threatens group in downtown Milledgeville

On Feb. 1, law enforcement was dispatched to 136 West Hancock St. for a weapon call in the area. The caller reported a lifted f-150 platinum truck circling the area brandishing a firearm to a group of males located by the Brick restaurant. An officer located the vehicle observed the driver and additional occupants in the vehicle. The driver, identified as Michael Sanchez, advised he was being harassed by a group of males and at no point brandished a firearm or made any threats. Backup officers arrived and stayed with Sanchez while the officer made contact with the complaining party, who were located in front of the Brick restaurant. They explained Sanchez was driving in his F-150 occupied by two additional males that were calling the complainants’ names and brandishing or racking a firearm. The complainants stated they felt unsafe and wanted to call the incident in. Sanchez stated no one else was in the vehicle with him but admitted to lying when an officer informed him they observed him and the passengers exit the vehicle at Ned Kellys. Sanchez also stated he did not have a firearm but attempted to stop a detective during a probable cause search. Upon search, the detective found the firearm in the vehicle. Sanchez was arrested for simple assault and making false statements.
