Customer caught with stolen check
On Aug. 6, law enforcement responded to Johnny McDade Grocery in reference to a forgery. An employee received a stolen check from Julius Brown on Feb. 10. The check was written from Simmons Auto Repair and Body Shop LLC, located at 436 E. Walton St.
Robins Federal Credit Union advised the check was stolen. The owner of the check stated he reported the check book stolen a few years ago and did not authorize or write the check to Brown. A warrant for forgery in the fourth degree was secured against Brown
Driver flees officer during traffic stop
On Aug. 6, law enforcement attempted a traffic stop on a black Nissan Versa that pulled out of the driveway of 2015 Irwinton Rd. and failed to yield to oncoming traffic when entering the roadway, almost causing a vehicle accident. While in pursuit of the vehicle, the Versa accelerated to what appeared to be a high rate of speed until it reached the intersection of Irwinton Road and Harrisburg Road. The driver, later identified as Victor Hernandez Lopez, abruptly turned on the vehicle's blinker and turned right onto Harrisburg Road.
He turned left into the driveway of 357 Harrisburg Rd. and began running toward the residence. Despite orders to stop, Lopez entered the residence and held the door in an attempt to keep the officer from making contact with him.
After multiple demands for the male to open the door, he let go of the door and entered the first bedroom on the left.
After several instructions, Lopez was placed under arrest. Lopez received a citation for driving without a license and failure to yield entering the highway. A warrant for misdemeanor fleeing and attempting to elude officers and misdemeanor obstruction of officers were sworn against Lopez.
Stolen vehicle found abandoned at Dollar General On Aug. 7, law enforcement was dispatched to the Oconee River Greenway, at 499 E. Greene St., in reference to a stolen vehicle. A Chevrolet pickup truck was taken from the location while the victim was jogging around the Greenway area. When he returned to his vehicle, he noticed his vehicle wasn’t at the location anymore. He stated that he put his keys in the gas door of the vehicle. His vehicle had his phone, wallet, a red cooler, and a weapon located behind the center console on the floorboard inside. The vehicle was later found by law enforcement parked on the side of the Dollar General, located at 102 Robins Drive, unoccupied. Store personnel stated that the outdoor cameras did not work. The victim went through the vehicle and stated everything was still inside.
Woman caught shoplifting at Walmart
On Aug. 9, law enforcement was dispatched to Walmart, at 2592 N.
Columbia St., in reference to shoplifting.
Personnel advised April Evans was seen not scanning items in the checkout area.
They advised she was stopped, and she asked to use the restroom, which they allowed. Staff advised they checked the restroom when she was done and found two dog collars, which Evans admitted to removing from her person and leaving there. Evans received a citation for shoplifting in the amount of $115.67.
Man arrested for obstructing officers
On Aug. 10, law enforcement was dispatched to Laquinta Inn & Suites, at 1839 N. Columbia St., in reference to a physical altercation in process. The manager advised she heard someone say a male put hands on a female. Dispatch also advised they were on the second floor about to come down the stairs on the right side of the building and a male had a large firearm. As officers approached, Jar'Kevious Lundy had one hand on his waist and the other on a black bookbag. Lundy was given verbal commands to put his bag down three times, all were ignored. During apprehension and search of person, Lundy was irate and resisting officers. Eventually, at the jail, Lundy cooperated and informed officers that he and his ex-girlfriend had a verbal argument in the elevator and were loud but things never got physical.
He also stated that he believed his AR pistol was in his book bag at the time of the officer's arrival. Lundy was charged with three counts of obstruction of an officer.
