Woman arrested for smoking marijuana

On April 25, law enforcement conducted a traffic stop on a gray Toyota Rav4 on State Route Highway 22 near the intersection of Roberson Mill Road. The driver, Brittany Garnto, was stopped for failure to maintain lane. After the traffic stop was completed, the officer noticed several cigar wrappers consistent with smoking marijuana and smelled the odor of burned marijuana. Garnto stated she smoked marijuana last night. Garnto gave the officer consent to search her vehicle and he discovered two cannabis oil vape pens, containing high concentrates of THC. The individually packaged vape pens contained 88.7% of THC and 90% of Cannabinoids. Two state warrants were secured for V.G.C.S.A felony possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) against Garnto.

Gun stolen from vehicle on Grandview Court

On April 27, law enforcement was dispatched to Grandview Court in reference to an entering automobile complaint. The victim advised that during the morning hours he noticed that his vehicle had been rummaged through. He reported his Smith & Wesson SD9VE, valued at $529, missing from the driver’s side door. He last saw the gun on April 26 and believes he may have left the doors unlocked.

Drunk driver causes collision on Valley Road

On April 28, law enforcement responded to the area of 1683 Valley Rd. in reference to a motor vehicle collision. While conducting the accident investigation, the officer noticed that one driver, later identified as Elizabeth Tuft, wouldn't make eye contact with him, nor would she get out of the vehicle. The officer began speaking with Tuft about the accident and was able to smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her person. Tuft's eyes were also watery and bloodshot. Tuft stated she consumed her last drink earlier in the day. At this time, Tuft stepped out of the vehicle and she wasn't able to do so without holding on. At the officer’s vehicle, Tuft stated she had two beers approximately thirty minutes before the motor vehicle collision. Tuft failed the standardized field sobriety tests and was transported to jail. During transport, Tuft banged on the passenger side window and partition with the handcuffs, causing severe scratches to both. Tuft received citations for driving under the influence and failure to maintain lane. A warrant for interference with government property was also sworn against Tuft.

Owner reports frequent vandalism of business

On April 28, law enforcement was dispatched to Middle Georgia Locksmith, at 112 Floyd L. Griffin Jr. St., in reference to vandalism that had already occurred in the back of the business. The victim stated this is the third incident and consecutive weekends where somebody has damaged his property. He stated when he checked behind the business, he found several broken bricks next to the building and a broken window that weren’t there when he closed up on Friday evening. He stated the bricks were taken from a stack he has in the back of the building. The victim stated he plans to put up cameras in the area soon.
