GMC Prep wins State Literary title for 9th-straight year

    Georgia Military College Prep School (GMC Prep) won the State Literary Competition, marking its 9th consecutive victory. Hosted at Georgia Military College, the competition showcased the talents and dedication of the GMC Prep Literary Team, coached by LTC. Mark Weaver and Maj. Jenny Morris.

    'The dedication and hard work of our students continue to amaze us year after year. Their commitment to excellence in the literary arts is truly inspiring,' said Weaver, Fine Arts director at GMC Prep School.

    The State Literary Championship is a highly competitive event that showcases the best literary talent from high schools across Georgia. The event consists of 12 categories. To secure the team win, all students placed in all categories:

    • Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking – Brian Sherwood, State Champ

    • International Extemporaneous Speaking – Shriyansh Parekh, State Champ

    • SoloHumorous Literary Interpretation - Emerson Ivey, State Champ

    • SoloDramatic Literary Interpretation - Nikki Knight, State Champ

    • Duo Literary Interpretation –Alexis Waldroup and Nikki Knight, State Champs

    • Argumentative Essay–William Steinfeld, State Champ

    • Personal Essay–Emma Kate Godin, 3rd

    • Literary Analysis Essay-Caden Loyd, State Champs

    • Boys Solo-Luke Ivey, 3rd

    • Girls Solo-Emerson Ivey, State Champs

    • Trio-Emerson Ivey, Jacie Hartzog, Abigail Johnson, State Champs 

    • Quartet-LukeIvey, Grady Meier, Maddox Raburn, Jude Raburn, 3rd Ivey, and Knight, two exemplary seniors, showcased outstanding leadership and talent, accumulating an impressive number of state championships throughout their high school careers.

    Ivey has 13 state championships, including Girls Solo (22, 23, 24,) Humorous (24,) Trio (23, 24,) Literary Team (21, 22, 23, 24,) One Act Play (21, 22, 23.)

    Knight has 11 state championships, including One Act Play (21, 22, 23,) Literary Team (22, 22, 23, 24,) Dramatic Interpretation (23, 24,) Humorous (22,) Duo Interpretation (24.)
