The victim reportedly visited his rental property to check on it and found the gate lock was cut and his motorcycle was missing. A miter saw (valued at $350) was also reported stolen. The victim stated he last saw the motorcycle on March 10 when he took it for a ride. Other investigative means were used in an attempt to locate the motorcycle but were met with negative results.

Shots fired on Meriwether

On March 15, law enforcement received reports of shots fired on Meriwether Road. The complainant advised a silver SUV was leaving the residence after the shots occurred. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle near the intersection of Meriwether Road and State Route 212.

Law enforcement made contact with the driver, Jamon Waller, who appeared to be intoxicated. Waller agreed to a standardized field sobriety test and failed. He also tested positive for alcohol (0.280) on a roadside breathalyzer. The rounds in the magazine of the recovered firearm were the same brand and caliber as the three spent shell casings. The firearm also held nine rounds at the time of recovery and is capable of holding 12.

It was determined Waller had been shooting on his front porch within 50 years of Meriwether Road. Citations for driving under the influence and driving while license suspended were secured. A warrant for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and discharge of a firearm within 50 yards of a public highway was secured against Waller.

Bike stolen from a residence

On March 16, law enforcement was dispatched to Riverbend Apartments on 421 E. McIntosh St. about a theft. A mother reported her son’s blue Huffy bicycle, valued at $100, was taken from her residence. She located the bicycle in front of the building with no one around.

The bicycle was taken around three weeks ago and was reportedly located with some juvenile boys. The bike was loaded into her truck and transported back to her residence.

Traffic stop leads to discovery of ecstasy

On March 16, law enforcement initiated a traffic stop on a silver SUV in the area of State Route 49 and Allen Memorial Drive. The driver had attempted to make a right turn onto Allen Memorial Drive and ride with its left tire on the yellow center line.

Running the tag showed that the driver, Ashlee Booker, was wanted out of Bibb County for shoplifting. When asked for her license, Booker stated she did not have one and also lied to the police about her name and date of birth. The officer could smell a strong odor of marijuana from the vehicle and a probable cause search led to the discovery of 41 suspected ecstasy tablets and over an ounce of suspected marijuana.

Warrants for giving false names to officers, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession of MDMA were secured against Booker.

Women fight at Waffle House

On March 17, law enforcement was dispatched to the Waffle House located at 1683 N. Columbia St. in reference to a fight.

A couple reportedly got into a dispute in the parking lot of the restaurant. The manager at the Waffle House stated that she observed a female in a white shirt continuously striking a female in an orange shirt. She stated that the other customers attempted to break apart the females but since the females were no longer present, she had no issues with anyone else in the restaurant.

While the parties involved were no longer present on the scene, law enforcement was later dispatched to West Thomas Street about another altercation between the individuals.

Law enforcement spoke with Gre’Ondria Whitfield and Kiara Simpson. Whitfield stated that at the Waffle House, a male subject placed his hand on Simpson in a way that seemed flirtatious. She stated that she got upset and ripped the male subject’s arm away from her partner.

She stated that there were no other issues. While speaking with Whitfield, the officer observed that the knuckles on her right hand were red and that her left knuckles were not that way.

Simpson stated they went to Waffle House after having drinks at the lounge and that several of her family members were at the restaurant. She explained that she gave a hug to one of her male cousins and Whitfield became aggressive but only struck her left eye after they left. Simpson had redness, and some swelling around her left eye and left upper cheek.

Surveillance footage at Waffle House showed Whitfield and Simpson shoving each other and Whitfield attempting to go after the male subject aggressively.

When the pair left the building, Whitfield slapped Simpson several times and struck Simpson’s sister. Whitfield then struck Simpson in her left eye. At this point, Simpson pulled out a firearm from her purse and pointed it at Whitfield but Whitfield continued to slap and come at Simpson aggressively. Simpson put away the firearm as police arrived and all three females loaded into their vehicle and drove away.

Whitfield was arrested for misdemeanor battery (family violence).
