$1,000 worth of electronics stolen from Pecan Hill Apartments
On Feb. 28, law enforcement were dispatched to Pecan Hill Apartments in reference to a theft. An employee notified a manager that items were missing from a supply room. Two printers, a laptop, and one monitor were reported missing. No cameras were in that particular area and no cameras saw anyone walk toward the supply room. The estimated total value of all items stolen was approximately $1,000.
Firearm reported stolen from vehicle
On March 1, law enforcement was dispatched to The Haven, 406 South Wilkinson Street, in reference to an entering automobile. The victim reported missing a firearm from the glove box of her black 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee. She stated that when entering her vehicle she located the holster was laying on the passenger seat and realized the firearm was not inside the holster.
She reportedly left her vehicle doors unlocked the prior night. There was no camera footage available at the location.
Employee steals money from Dollar General
On March 4, law enforcement was contacted in reference to a theft at the Dollar General on 1550 N. Columbia St. The manager advised she found several transactions and observed via security camera footage where a former employee refunded money to a male customer, who she believed was their friend, without a receipt.
That is against store policy. The employee would reportedly also assist a customer at a cash register and when the customer left the location having thrown their receipt in a trash can, they would grab the receipt from the trashcan and refund herself the money.
The total money lost from the refunds was $521.58. The manager provided a receipt of the transactions she investigated and pointed out the transactions where the employee refunded money and security camera footage of the transactions, which law enforcement was waiting to review as of March 5. A warrant is pending further investigation.
Male trespassed from Jet Food Store
On March 5, law enforcement was dispatched to the Jet Food Store in reference to criminal trespass. The store manager reported that Robert Butts was on the property, although he was previously trespassed from the store on Nov. 11, 2023. Butts had walked to Huddle House just prior to law enforcement arrival.
Butts told police that he knew he was trespassed but he was hungry so he went to the store to ask if he could buy food. Butts further stated the employee informed him he could not purchase anything, and he left the location. Butts was transported to the Baldwin County Law Enforcement Center and issued a warrant for criminal trespass.
