BCSD superintendent is overpaid
Dear Editor,
The extremely high salary of the Baldwin County School Superintendent, set by the Baldwin County Board of Education, is ridiculous.
According to Baldwin 2K, our school superintendent salary for 2023 was $329,681 plus travel allotment of $12,748. What are they thinking of? This is Baldwin County, Ga. with a student population of 4,588.
The school superintendent makes more than the sheriff of Baldwin County, who has a very important dangerous job, more than a superior court judge, more than the governor of the great state of Georgia, and a little shy of the president of the United States of America.
Also, according to Baldwin 2K, on Jan. 19, the Baldwin County School District (BCSD) received its report card. It states that BCSD consistently finished around the bottom 10 percent in many of the key measurements.
Given that salary, what has she done to really improve our school system? No wonder our property taxes are high. Changes need to be addressed.
Sincerely, Randy Ellis
