Citizen caught with fictitious tag

On Dec. 1, law enforcement was alerted by a FLOCK camera of a stolen plate traveling east on State Route 22. Deputy J.

Carpenter was in the area of Black Springs Road and State Route 22 and witnessed the silver Honda Pilot, displaying that tag, traveling east. The vehicle turned right on Linton Road, where she conducted a traffic stop. The reporting officer, Cecilio Reyes, arrived at the location shortly after and spoke to the passenger of the vehicle, who identified himself as Christopher Harrison.

Harrison stated he purchased the vehicle from an ex-roommate of his and transferred the registration to his name in July 2023. Due to the plate being reported as a fictitious plate, Reyes ran the VIN which came back to a 2003 silver Honda Pilot.

The vehicle came back to Harrison, but the registration was not valid. The plate reportedly came back to a different person and the tag number was registered to a similar vehicle, a 2004 silver Honda Pilot. After Reyes confirmed that the plate was fictitious, Harrison was placed under arrest and issued warrants for no insurance, failing to register a vehicle, manufacturing a fictitious plate, and acquiring a license plate to conceal the identity of the vehicle.

The original owner was contacted and stated he had never been to Baldwin County or Milledgeville but was made aware of the fictitious plate when he started receiving tickets showing a similar car to his with the same plate. The fictitious plate was removed from the vehicle and Pittman's Towing came to get the vehicle, due to it not having insurance coverage.
