Customer leaves without paying for gas

On Oct. 23, law enforcement was dispatched to the Jet Food Store, 301 E. Hancock Street, in reference to a tan older model Chevrolet truck driving off without paying for their gas. Store personnel stated an older white male came into the store saying he wanted to fill up his vehicle and asked her to turn the pump on. The employee stated she turned the pump on, and he filled up. The total was $43.89. The male then got inside his vehicle and left the parking lot heading eastbound on East Hancock Street. Video footage confirmed the car drove around and exited the parking lot.

Unknown suspect damages unit

On Oct. 23, law enforcement responded to a residence on West Mitchell Street in reference to a possible damage to property. The complainant stated he was employed by the Oconee Center and is responsible for the management of Oconee Center’s properties. His team was last on-site on Oct. 19 but returned Oct. 23 to find the front door to a unit kicked in. The estimated cost of repair is about $500.

Construction manager finds damage on-site

On Oct. 23, law enforcement was dispatched to an apartment on West Prichard Street in reference to a possible damage to property. The complainant, who oversees a site for Walix Construction, stated that he noticed a window damaged in the apartment. He was last on-site Oct.

20 and inspected all the units, which were undergoing construction, and did not note any damage done. However, he noticed the window belonging to the second bedroom of an apartment on Oct. 23 sustained damage to the exterior glass of the window. He stated he suspected the damages to have been done by a rock and/or a small projectile but was uncertain of who was responsible. The estimated cost of repair is around $2,000.

Woman steals pants from Belk

On Oct. 27, law enforcement was dispatched to Belk, 2400 N. Columbia St., in reference to shoplifting. An employee advised they observed Felicia Walker walk into the fitting room with a black pair of Anne Klein Petite pants but walked out without the pants.

After further checks of the fitting room, the pants were not found. When confronted, Walker advised she had the pants on underneath her clothes and urinated on herself. The pants were approximately $170, though the employee was unsure due to not being able to look at the pants. Walker was served a Notice of Prohibited Entry form and placed under arrest for theft by shoplifting.

Unknown males break $6,000 window

On Oct. 27, law enforcement was dispatched to The Family Store, on Vinson Highway, in reference to criminal damage to property. Reportedly, when closing, two males broke the front glass window. Video surveillance footage showed the two males fighting in front of the store and one of the males was pushed into the window, causing it to shatter. The males then fled the scene. The window was valued at $6,000.

$6,300 worth of shoes stolen from truck

On Oct. 28, law enforcement responded to River Ridge Road in reference to an entering auto.

The complainant reported that upon waking up on Oct. 28, he found his vehicle's doors and trunk ajar.

The following items were taken from inside his vehicle: four Christian Dior shoes valued at approximately $800 each, two Louis Vuitton shoes valued at approximately $1,200 each, two Ameri jackets valued at approximately $300 and Ray-Ban sunglasses valued at approximately $100. The total value of items taken was approximately $6,300. During the investigation, the offender appeared to have made entry into the vehicle by breaking a small hole on the driver’s side window. As of The Baldwin Bulletin’s deadline, there was no further information.

Woman cited for DUI

On Oct. 29, law enforcement was in the area of Irwinton Road and Cook Street and spotted a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was speeding at 69 miles per hour in a posted 40 miles per hour zone.

The officer initiated a traffic stop on North Main Street at its intersection with Allen Memorial Drive. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer immediately detected the strong odor of an unknown alcoholic beverage coming from inside the passenger compartment. The driver, Nicola Fields, had slurred her speech and stated she had drank 'just a few.' Fields consented to Standardized Field Sobriety Test and failed. Fields also gave a breath sample on the roadside alco-sensor and tested positive for alcohol. Fields was issued citations for speeding and driving under the influence.
