Vehicle damaged at Fall Line Pawn Shop
On June 15, law enforcement responded to Fall Line Pawn Shop, located on North Columbia Street, in reference to damage to property. A manager reported a business vehicle’s driver-side window shattered. The estimated cost of repair is approximately $200. The manager stated he did not know who or what might have caused the damage and that nothing appeared to have been missing from inside of the vehicle.
Employee arrested for stealing unpaid goods from Walmart
On June 15, 2023, law enforcement responded to Walmart in reference to a theft by taking. Lost Prevention personnel stated employee Presley Logan O’Neal purposefully failed to scan multiple consumable goods. O’Neal was seen between the dates of May 5 through June 8 failing to scan items on different self-checkout registers. The total amount of unpaid consumable goods was $61.58.
The incidents reportedly occurred on and off work hours. Receipts were provided for each transaction detailing the items taken and their value. Prior to law enforcement arrival O’Neal completed a witness statement form where she admitted to purposely not scan certain items in the self-checkout registers.
O’Neal was arrested on-site and charged with theft by taking.
Man stikes gas pump and glees
On June 16, law enforcement was dispatched to Highway 212 in reference to a hit and run. The store manager noticed the gas pump alarm beeping and went to check it. Out of the store window, she discoverved a male, later identified as Carlos Vellejo, getting out of a red truck with an extended cab. Vellejo reportedly looked at the damage done to the pump before fleeing the scene. No witnesses saw the incident occur. On June 16, Vallejo returned to the scene and informed police he was the driver who hit the gas pump and left the scene. Vallejo was given citations for duty upon striking fixture and driving without license.
Tenant damages residence after eviction
On June 16, law enforcement was dispatched to West Thomas Court in reference to a burglary. The former tenant K’Nya Clark was evicted from the location, moved her items from the residence, and vacated the property as the renter then secured the doors. According to the complainant, he was driving by the residence when he observed Clark, her father Jerold Clark, and an unidentified male exit the residence after it was secured. He briefly spoke to K. Clark and J. Clark and yelled for his employee as they approached the residence. After his yelling, K. Clark, J. Clark, and the unidentified male then got into their box truck and left the location. According to the report, the front door was kicked in and the frame came off, valued at $200, there was a hole in the wall valued at $50, and the bathroom counter, sink, and toilet were all damaged and had knocked off pipes, valued at $600. Warrants for burglary and criminal damage to property were secured for K’Nya Clark and Jerold Clark.
Woman conceals items in Walmart
On June 16, law enforcement was dispatched to Walmart in reference to a shoplifting which occurred on the previous date. On June 15, a female was observed failing to scan multiple items throughout her transaction at self-checkout and proceeded to conceal the items under her other merchandise in shopping bags. Items not scanned included medicine, food, and pet/dog health items. Card information was pulled from a potential suspect but without further information, no charges are being pursued at this time.
Man attempts to steal $63 worth of merchandise from Walmart
On June 16, law enforcement was dispatched to Walmart in reference to shoplifting. Asset Protection personnel had the offender, Amariel Yehudah, in custody after he attempted to leave the store without paying for several miscellaneous items. Personnel stated when confronted Yehudah complied without incident and waited for law enforcement to arrive. The total amount of items taken was valued at $63.39, which were all recovered. Yehudah was issued a citation for theft by shoplifting (1st offense) and released without incident.
Woman trespassed from Belk after shoplifting
On June 17, law enforcement responded to Belk in reference to shoplifting. Loss Prevention personnel detained shoplifter Shirah Hahn after they concealed and attempted to steal merchandise. Hahn took items such as two ball caps, three shirts, and a brazier totaling $182.50 which was recovered.
Hahn did not have prior shoplifting charges so she was cited for shoplifting, trespassed from the location, and then released.
Woman attempts to steal ring from Belk
On June 17, law enforcement responded to Belk in reference to shoplifting. While watching live security footage, loss prevention personnel observed a female, later identified as Julie Brown, in the jewelry area picking up a ring box. Brown attempted to conceal and steal a ring and steal a pair of sunglasses before being detained by Loss Prevention personnel. The items totaled $77.04. Brown admitted to concealing the ring in her bag and stated she forgot about the sunglasses on her head. Brown was issued a citation for shoplifting and was trespassed from Belk.
Homeowner discovers broken window
On June 18 law enforcement was dispatched to Park Avenue in reference to property damage. A resident reported returning home to discover a broken front window. She reportedly just moved into this residence and did not see anyone in the area prior to her return home. A red brick was located in front of the broken window next to a chair on her porch. As of The Baldwin Bulletin’s deadline, there is no further information.
