Money reported missing at Pine Knoll Apartments

On May 25, law enforcement contacted management at Pine Knoll Apartments, on Sherry Circle, in reference to a potential theft. The manager stated a money order from a former resident was missing from the money bag, which they put all the money orders in. The resident reportedly turned in the money order for the value of $941 on May 7 before moving away. The assistant manager unlocked the drop box to retrieve the money orders and put them in a money bag before placing the bag in a drawer in the office.

The manager stated she last saw the money bag on May 17 before locking the doors to the office and leaving the location. All money was reported to be present, excluding the singular resident order. There were no working security cameras in the area of the incident. As of The Baldwin Bulletin’s deadline, there is no further information.

Resident finds bullet hole upon returning to residence

On May 28, law enforcement was dispatched to a North Wayne Street apartment regarding damage to property. The resident reported a bullet hole was located in their window and wall.

The resident stated that prior to leaving the residence there were no signs of the bullet hole but upon returning located the hole in their living room. Due to the location of the hole, law enforcement made contact with the apartment next door and it appeared the bullet projectile that punctured the original apartment continued through the wall of the neighboring apartment into the neighbor’s bedroom wall. A 9mm Luger shell casing was collected from the incident location.

$70,000 worth of merchandise stolen from Yims Stop-N-Shop

On May 29, law enforcement received a call from the owner at Yims Stop-NShop in reference to a theft. The owner of the store stated that a customer called management asking why the store was closed and management notified him of everything going on. According to management, they arrived at the store and discovered store keys lying on the ground next to the entrance of the store. They entered the store and noticed almost all of his merchandise was missing. The owner reported to law enforcement what management reported to them. According to the owner, change from the slot machines was missing along with all the cigarettes, beer, soda, camera system from the back room and the snacks cash drawer. The items taken cost approximately $70,000 to $80,000.

The owner further advised law enforcement that an old business partner was seen bringing a U-Haul truck to the store on May 28, and taking items from the store and placing them into the truck.

Reportedly, the former business partner reportedly agreed to come back to the store to talk but refused to return the merchandise. After observing the condition of the store and the number of items missing, the case was turned over to a detective for further investigation.
