Burglary on Allen Memorial Drive

On March 27, law enforcement was dispatched to a residence on Allen Memorial Drive in reference to a burglary. The complainant stated that someone broke into her brother’s house and that it was the second time in a matter of weeks that someone had broken into the residence. A white deep freezer and black air compressor were reportedly taken and found on a trail by the house, reportedly left behind by the offenders. A microwave and air fryer were also taken but not found. A crowbar was located in the living room of the home that matched marks consistent with the door leading into the basement from the backyard and the door leading down to the basement. As of The Baldwin Bulletin’s deadline, there is no further information.

Lumber stolen from Walix

On March 28, law enforcement was dispatched to Pritchard Street in reference to a theft. An employee of Walix, stated that lumber was stolen the night before. The last person left the location on March 27 at approximately 6 p.m. and when employees returned the next morning, lumber was missing. The employee reported 3.5 bundles of 6X6 post, one pallet of sub flooring, half a bundle of 2X10, and one bundle of 2X12 was taken. The lumber was valued at $6,743.

Tire tracks at the location led back into the neighborhood and the employee reported that someone from the neighborhood saw a truck and possibly a car at the location the night before. Law enforcement checked the flock cameras in the area but had negative results of any vehicles carrying lumber.

Man attempts to initiate fight at Jet Food Store

On March 29 law enforcement was dispatched to the Jet Food Store, on South Wayne Street, in reference to a fight that had already occurred. The victim reported that he was at the gas pump when he was approached by Jamarcus Webster aggressively. The males exchanged words and Webster reportedly spit on the victim.

As the fight was about to break out, a third party got in between the males and prevented a further incident. After this, the store clerk came outside and asked them to leave. The third party corroborated his story and agreed with him about what happened with Webster. The clerk stated she observed Webster spit on the victim and words being exchanged.

Video footage showed the males speaking, though no sound was recorded, and the start of the fight was shown with the intervention. However, due to the angle, video footage did not show Webster spitting on the victim. A warrant for simple battery was issued for Webster.

Stolen vehicle intercepted on North Columbia Street

On March 29, a law enforcement officer received a flock hit indicating a stolen vehicle passing Meriwether Road. After confirming the vehicle was stolen, a traffic stop was conducted on North Columbia Street. The driver, later identified as Olajokotimi Fuwa, was placed under arrest on scene. During a search of the vehicle four phones were located in the vehicle along with a driver's license and two credit cards. It was later determined that one of the four phones belonged to the owner of the stolen vehicle. Washington County Sheriff's Office was notified, and they notified the owner of what occurred.

A felony warrant for theft by receiving stolen property was secured for Fuwa.

Woman trespassed from Walmart for shoplifting

On March 31, law enforcement was dispatched to Walmart in reference to a theft. Asset Protection showed video surveillance of a female subject, identified as Emily Hubbard, removing household chemical items from the packaging and placing the items into her baby bag. Hubbard proceeded to check out, did not scan the household chemical items in the baby bag and attempted to leave the store. The total cost of items was $30.66. Hubbard was arrested for theft by shoplifting and was trespassed from Walmart without incident.

Woman steals $5,000 statue from Days Inn

On April 1, law enforcement responded to Days Inn hotel in reference to a possible theft. The complainant stated that an unknown female stole a $5,000 statue from the lobby of the inn. The statue was described to be a statue of Ganesha, copper in color, that resided in the lobby. The female subject was seen on video surveillance arriving in a silver-colored Jeep Liberty, parking in the rear of the facility, entering through the breakfast area, and walking into the lobby area, where she was seen taking the statue.

Due to the identity of the female subject being unknown, no charges were taken out.

Fight breaks out at Columbia Pub

On April 2, law enforcement was dispatched to Columbia Pub, on North Columbia Street, in reference to a fight. Security personnel stated a fight broke out due to a misunderstanding between two subjects. The fight reportedly started at the back right corner of the establishment, then began moving towards the front door. A security guard reported he was hit in the head with a pool stick and suffered a minor laceration. The owner provided video footage of the incident and it will be viewed for further investigation. As of The Baldwin Bulletin’s deadline, charges are pending further investigation.

Man steals vehicle from McDade’s Grocery Store

On April 2, law enforcement was dispatched to McDade’s Grocery Store, on Vinson Highway, in reference to a vehicle being stolen. The victim stated she was buying groceries when she witnessed a male enter her car and drive away with it. Camera footage from the store showed footage of a black male standing by the door of the grocery store on his phone. The male went around the rear of the victim's car and out of the camera’s view. Later, the male reappears and enters the vehicle before driving away north bound on Vinson Highway. Later that day, the store manager informed police that a customer identified the male as Trellis. After researching previous jail records, the offender was positively identified as Trellis Williams and matched to the offender on the camera footage. A warrant for felony theft by taking was secured for Williams.
