After approximately five minutes of searching, James was located approximately 50 yards from the address, where he was detained. James told the officers that the victim came to his residence in order to pick up his girlfriend, so she could be taken to her stepfather’s house due to both parties having relationship issues and her needing to leave. James stated once his girlfriend was in the victim’s vehicle, the victim sat in his driveway for longer than necessary after he repeatedly asked her to leave. The pair reportedly began to argue, which initiated James to throw the brick from his front porch. According to James, he was not aiming at the vehicle, and it only struck the bumper after bouncing off the ground. The victim corroborated James’ story of why she was at the residence, however, she stated that James became agitated and was close enough to hit her vehicle with the brick directly. She further stated that after the brick hit her vehicle, James reportedly opened her driver’s side door and attempted to pull her out of it by grabbing a hold of her left wrist, which is currently healing from a surgical procedure. Law enforcement looked over her arm and wrist however, due to her darker complexion and the discoloration of the scar tissue, they were unable to observe any signs of injury indicating James made physical contact with her. The girlfriend of James corroborated the victim’s story. A warrant for criminal trespass was sworn against James.
