Storage unit broken into on Marshall Road
On Dec. 30, law enforcement was dispatched to storage units on Marshall Road, in reference to a possible burglary.
The victim reported that he arrived at his storage unit and found the padlock cut off. According to the report, a kayak, four Ramset tile cutting lasers, two Ramset nail guns, a Bosch laser level, and a Troy bilt pressure washer were missing. An officer observed a camera on the unit, but it was facing away from the victim’s storage unit. As of The Baldwin Bulletin’s deadline, there is no more information.
Man criminally trespasses to steal from CVS
On Dec. 31, law enforcement was dispatched to the CVS Pharmacy on North Columbia Street in reference to shoplifting. A subject, later identified as Robert Butts, was seen inside the store after being previously issued a notice of prohibited entry. While inside, Butts was observed taking a bottle of Coca-Cola (valued at $2.49) from a refrigerator unit and then leaving without paying for it.
Warrants for criminal trespass and theft by shoplifting were secured for Butts.
Man caught on camera stealing packages
On Dec. 31, law enforcement was dispatched to West Green Street in reference to a theft. The victim’s security camera caught a male subject on their front porch on Dec. 24 who attempted to enter the residence. When he could not get in the front door, he unzipped his jacket and stole two packages on the porch before leaving the location. One package was valued at $123 and the value of the second package is unknown. As of The Baldwin Bulletin’s deadline, the suspect has not been identified.
Man threatens Food Depot employees
On Dec. 31, law enforcement responded to the parking lot area of Food Depot in reference to shoplifting.
Julius White had been reported stealing items from the store and, upon arriving at the location, law enforcement noted White standing beside his vehicle with two bookbags. The bookbags had been reported as the source of containment.
Once contact was made, White was detained, and a search of the bags was conducted. The officers located several steaks and cans of sardines (total value of items being $114.45) all of which were still cold to the touch. White was then placed in the back of a patrol car.
According to store personnel, White had been confronted, before law enforcement arrived, about stealing the items and became irate with them. He threatened to leave the location and return to “spray the store down” and asked one of the individuals to follow him outside to fight. Warrants for terroristic threats and theft by shoplifting were sworn against White.
Employee intentionally does not scan items
On Jan. 4, law enforcement was dispatched to Walmart in reference to theft. Employee Janyla Jones was reported allowing several customers and a fellow associate pass by her register without having them pay for items. Management stated the incidents started on Dec. 3 and the last incident occurred on Dec. 26. According to the report, Jones would scan items, then void the items out, suspend the transaction, or not scan the items at all before giving them to the customers. The total value of items stolen from the location was $469.78. A warrant was secured for Jones for the offense of theft by deception.
Walmart employee steals $272 worth of merchandise
On. Jan 4, law enforcement was dispatched to Walmart in reference to theft. Loss prevention personnel reported that employee Tierra Turner stole various items from the business.
Turner was seen on CCTV on Dec. 21, 24, and 25, failing to scan all items or using a voided receipt to avoid paying for items. The total amount taken was $272.06.
A warrant for theft by deception was secured for Turner.
Man with gun targets victim while driving
On Jan. 6, law enforcement spoke with a victim about a person with a gun at the light of Hancock and Elbert Street. According to the victim, they were trying to merge from the outside lane to the inside lane when the driver, identified as Lonnie Jerome Floyd, would not let them get over. Despite honking, Floyd still would not let the victim over after they began to approach Georgia College. The victim stated they observed a green laser on a handgun coming from Floyd’s vehicle.
So, the victim stopped at the location and watched Floyd pull into Domino’s Pizza, on North Columbia Street, before pulling back into the road and traveling southbound. Eventually, Officer Jaylen Webb was able to make contact with the vehicle at the Circle K on North Jefferson Street. He located a black in color Glock 45 with a mounted green laser attached, along with two black magazines, 16-round magazine and a 30-round magazine. Of the two magazines recovered, forty-four bullets were recovered. Floyd was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
Man with 14 active warrants flees police
On Jan. 8, law enforcement observed Eric Greene driving near the intersection of Irwinton Road and Swint Avenue. Greene had 14 active warrants out through the sheriff’s department. A traffic stop was attempted when Greene made a sudden turn on Caraker Avenue and proceeded to speed up. He accelerated to 50-mph in a 25-mph zone.
Eventually, he turned onto Caraker Lane and ran a stop sign before returning to Caraker Avenue. After a notable amount of time, Greene turned into a driveway and came to a stop before fleeing on foot. The officer was unable to catch Greene but warrants for felony fleeing and willful obstruction of law enforcement officers were secured.
