>> GEORGIA COLLEGE

Georgia College & State University (GCSU) Volleyball picked up the No. 4 seed for the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Tournament after finishing its regular season with a 7-8 record.

The conference made the change this year for teams to play each other three times. GCSU benefited by picking up a highlight win against No. 2 Lander University this season and taking all three matches against Young Harris College.

In the first round, the Bobcats will face No. 5 seed USC Aiken Nov. 10, at 7:30 p.m. The top-seeded and tournament host Augusta University will take on the winner of the GCSU vs. USCA match the next day at 4:30 p.m.

During the regular season, GCSU won two of the three matches against the Pacers. The first contest was a 3-1 win during the first stop of the Tailgate Tour. The second match was a 3-2 nail-biting win on the road. The Pacers made the trip back to the Centennial Center for the third-and-final meeting for the two squads and took a 3-0 win.

Among several key players for the Bobcats entering the postseason is outside hitter Rachel Machovec. She leads the team with 246 kills this season and with 322, she has the second most digs on the squad.

Another key factor for the Bobcats will be middle blockers Brooke Roberts and Mary Kate Kotzin. Roberts leads the team in total blocks with 125, while Kotzin is second with 91 total blocks.

Alanis Bernis also will be a problem for opposing teams as her 478 digs leads the team, while senior setter Emily Long has been the backbone of the offense, leading the team with 501 assists this season.

All games of the PBC Tournament will be broadcast by Augusta University. Live stats and broadcast links for the GCSU matches will be available at GCBobcats.com.
