Vehicle struck by gunfire

On Oct. 27, law enforcement met with a complainant in reference to a damage to property report. The complainant stated that their family was traveling northbound on Vinson Highway near the Pennington Road intersection when the vehicle was struck by three rounds of gunfire from an unknown location or firearm. One family member stated that she heard two rounds of gunfire but did not see a vehicle or person nearby.

According to the report, one round struck the trunk near the vehicle logo traveling inside. The trajectory struck the chassis between the trunk and backseat. The second round hit the rear right side door traveling inside the vehicle and hit the back right of the driver’s seat. The third round struck the front bumper on the right side traveling through the bumper and hitting the inner wheel well but did not lodge itself anywhere. Driver speeds on Georgia Highway 49

On Oct. 27, law enforcement was patrolling the area of Georgia Highway 49 near Forest Hill Road when a vehicle traveling 101 MPH in a 55 MPH zone passed by. The vehicle was noted to be changing lanes rapidly, speeding and recklessly passing other cars on the road. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver, identified as David Faircloth, was placed under arrest. The report notes that the vehicle had no valid insurance. Faircloth received citations for reckless driving, no motor vehicle insurance and maximum limits.

Two males shoplift at Walmart

On Oct. 28, law enforcement responded to possible shoplifting at Walmart. A loss prevention personnel reported that two males were inside the store and concealing items. The males were later identified as Omerion Markell Canty and Zadarius Tyri Cheathe. Canty was caught by loss prevention with a king sized Reese’s bar valued at $1.98. Cheathem was caught by loss prevention with multiple miscellaneous goods totaling $110.51. Canty and Cheathem were both cited for shoplifting.

Shots fired on North Glynn Street

On Nov. 1, law enforcement was dispatched to North Glynn Street in reference to shots fired. Officers canvased the baseball field area adjacent to West Thomas Circle and located one .380 shell casing, seven .223 shell casings, and one black in color Jordan Slide from the drain ditch.

While canvassing the area of Earnest Byner Street, a bullet hole was located in a garbage can as well as the back wall of the neighboring apartment to the trash can.

One tenant of the apartments did report hearing gunshots. As of The Baldwin Bulletin’s deadline, there is no further information.

Unknown individual steals $1,000 food from home

On Oct. 28, law enforcement was dispatched to a residence in reference to a burglary. According to the victim, an unknown subject came into his yard, forced entry into the home and took approximately $1,000 in steak and chicken from the freezer. Damages were observed to the door lock mechanism of the freezer. As of The Baldwin Bulletin’s deadline, there is no more information.

$2,000 necklace stolen from Evergreen Storage

On Oct. 28, law enforcement was dispatched to Evergreen Storage in reference to a burglary. The victim stated she arrived to get some belongings out of the storage unit when she noticed the lock was cut. She reported missing a saltwater pearl necklace and bracelet valued at $2,000, a Dewalt toolbox with a hammer, screwdriver and a Dewalt cordless drill inside and currency from various countries. Unknown individual breaks window with rock

On Oct. 30, law enforcement was dispatched in reference to damage to property. The victim stated someone threw a rock at her window. According to the report, she noticed the window was broken when she came home and upon moving the curtain back, the rock fell onto the floor inside her residence. $5,000 water valve damaged by unknown individual

On Oct. 30, law enforcement was dispatched to Milledgeville Estates Mobile Park in reference to damage to property. A Meter Pit MJ Water Valve valued at $5,000 was damaged at the corner of 267 Lewis Court.

According to the supervisor for the City of Milledgeville’s Water Department, someone not authorized may have worked on the valve, therefore causing the damage. As of The Baldwin Bulletin’s deadline, there are no current suspects for the damages.

Mobile Home Park faces water line issues

On Nov. 1, law enforcement spoke with the owner of Milledgeville Estates Mobile Home in reference to water line damages. According to the owner, they have been dealing with issues regarding the water lines since August. According to the report the cost of repair for these issues is currently totaling in excess of $20,000 with the potential to rise. The case is still under investigation.

Suspected shoplifting at Walmart

On Oct. 24, law enforcement was dispatched in reference to a theft at Walmart. Reportedly, Alexandria Gordy came into the store and purchased items, but failed to scan nine miscellaneous items. The items were valued at $110.96.

Gordy also, reportedly, tried to conceal several items in the restroom. When loss prevention personnel approached Gordy about the items, she reportedly became upset and angry before leaving the scene. As of The Baldwin Bulletin’s deadline, there is no further information.

Unknown man steals wallet

On Oct. 25, law enforcement was dispatched to Walmart in reference to a theft. A customer left her purse in a cart while in another aisle. Her wallet was reported misplaced and when returned was missing over $50. Camera footage showed an unknown male being the last person in possession of the wallet before it was turned into customer service. Due to the male being unknown, no charges have been taken out at this time.

Man trespassed from The Market

On Oct. 25, law enforcement was dispatched to The Market on North Columbia Street in reference to a theft.

The offender, identified as Jerrold Reeves, placed a Three Musketeers candy bar in his pocket and walked to the counter with a soda and six packs of beer. According to Reeves, he forgot the bar was in his pocket. The cashier reportedly noticed the candy bar in his pocket and took the candy along with a $10 bill from Reeves. Reeves stated he gave the cashier a $20 bill but they switched it out for $10. According to the report, officers confirmed intent to steal the candy bar based on surveillance footage. Reeves was cited for theft by shoplifting and trespassed from the location.
