Should you trust a ‘finfluencer’?

Content creators known as “finfluencers” (short for financial influencers) use platforms like TikTok, YouTube and Instagram to share their takes on investing, budgeting and building wealth. Many of them are charismatic and relatable, and they often speak from personal experience.

On June 4, while on uniform patrol, an officer was dispatched to Quality Pawn & Sales, 905 S. Wayne St., in reference to a reported forgery. The store owner stated on May 15 an individual, identified by the owner as Dmarrion Jackson, presented a check in the amount of $3,857.13 to be cashed.

A Hancock County resident won $1 million on the Georgia Lottery’s 2nd Edition Billionaire Club scratch-off game, according to a press release by the Georgia Lottery.The player claimed their winnings at Texaco Food Mart in Milledgeville on May 16, selecting a lump sum prize option of $535,398.
