City approves land bank intergovernmental contract

Several years of discussion between the city and county came to fruition this past Tuesday evening, but not with overwhelming support, as Milledgeville Mayor Mary Parham-Copelan broke the tied decision to approve the inter-governmental contract with Baldwin County.

$4.9M grant received for Oconee Heights Streetscape

Baldwin County will receive $4.9 million in grant funds for improvements in the Oconee Heights community, officials announced this past Tuesday.

Kids’ University summer camps continue in July

Georgia College & State University’s Continuing & Professional Education department continues Kids’ University (Kids’ U) Summer Camp all throughout July. Kids’ University hosts day camps throughout the summer through the School of Continuing & Professional Education.

Land Bank to be on city council agenda again

Baldwin County is making an effort to utilize grant funds to build homes for two low-income families, and it needs the cooperation of the city of Milledgeville. That cooperation has not been immediately forthcoming, however.

Garden Club appoints new officers

Lynwood and Kathy Chandler welcomed more than 55 members and guests to their home at “Stonecrop Farm” in celebration of Milledgeville Garden Club’s Spring Picnic.

Vehicle damaged at Fall Line Pawn Shop On June 15, law enforcement responded to Fall Line Pawn Shop, located on North Columbia Street, in reference to damage to property. A manager reported a business vehicle’s driver-side window shattered. The estimated cost of repair is approximately $200.

Milledgeville man arrested in Putnam man’s murder

A Putnam County man was found dead in Milledgeville Saturday morning, and the alleged killer was arrested Monday afternoon, according to authorities. The victim was identified as Joshua Corey Jones, 43, of Thomas Drive, which is on the shores of Lake Sinclair in southern Putnam County.
