BOC approves grant awards and contracts

The Baldwin County Board of Commissioners hosted its regular meeting on Nov. 21 and approved an appointment, grant awards, and an intergovernmental contract. Only commissioners Kendrick Butts, Emily Davis, and Sammy Hall were present at the meeting to vote.

City Council approves new millage rate, fleet agreement

The Milledgeville City Council met Tuesday and approved the new millage rate and several resolutions regarding city projects. The final public hearing for the ordinance to set the 2023 millage rate at 12.12 took place before the vote.

Investigation into killing of 16-year-old continues

The Milledgeville Police Department announced an ongoing investigation into the death of a 16-year-old on Nov. 25 on the 2300 block of Anthony Way. At approximately 12:30 p.m., patrol units from the Milledgeville Police Department responded to multiple reports of shots fired.

Final public hearing set for tax increase

The City of Milledgeville is holding mandated public hearings in conjunction with a proposed tax increase, and an analysis of the General Fund budget, adopted earlier this year, shows much higher salaries make up a large portion of the property tax hike.
