Two lives lost in house fire on Hubbard Drive

Two people lost their lives Friday morning in a house fire on Hubbard Drive in Baldwin County.

Baldwin County Fire & Rescue Deputy Chief of Operations Bradley Towe identified the victims as 77-year-old Margaret Moss and 61-year-old Brian Moss, both of whom lived at the home at 108 Hubbard Drive.

“They were the only two living at the residence and were found deceased during an aggressive search of the premises,” said Towe. “No one else was reported injured or near the fire.”

Around 6:30 a.m., Baldwin County Fire Rescue crews responded to an alarm call of a structure fire, discovering “heavy fire” coming through the roof of the residence. It took about an hour to "knock it back” and about three hours to fully extinguish the flames.

“The home is still technically standing but is completely burned,” Towe said when asked about the state of the residence.

Towe said the fire was ruled as a “cooking fire” as the flames were determined to have begun in the kitchen near the stove.

“At this time, the family has not shared any resources for support with us, but we ask everyone to keep them in your prayers,” said Towe.

The bodies of both victims were sent to be autopsied at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Laboratory today.
