Happy birthday, Garry Mitchem

Garry Mitchem is a high-school senior, who loves listening to scanners and has a strong admiration for the Baldwin and Putnam Counties Fire Rescue teams. On July 31, the young man will be turning 18-years old. Mitchem is hoping the Milledgeville community will help him in celebrating.

According to his mother, Mitchem has been checking his mailbox each day in hopes of finding special messages to celebrate his big day. She describes her son as someone who loves everyone and is hoping that love is returned.

Mitchem is homeschooled and suffers from Prader-Willi syndrome. She is asking for a very simple request, for everyone to mail the young man a birthday card.

She shared that her son does not have many friends, but this one act of kindness could make this young man’s day.

Garry is the son of Donald and Carol Mitchem. His love of firetrucks and admiration for the profession started at home. His father Donald is a retired fireman with the Dekalb County Fire Department. He enjoys filming firefighters in his free time.

Mitchem has two sisters and a brother and is the youngest of four.

Anyone interested in mailing a card can mail it to: Garry Cantrell-Mitchem at 110 Highview Rd SE, Milledgeville, Georgia, 31061.
