Downtown Milledgeville is gearing up for First Fridays in 2023. Beginning this Friday at 5 p.m., downtown Milledgeville will turn into a wintry mountain village with the additions of axe throwing, live folk music, food trucks, and a blacksmith demonstration.
There will be a free gift for the first 150 people who arrive wearing mountain flannel or plaid. Everyone should bundle up for a night full of food and fun!
Beginning at 5 p.m., the 100 block of South Wayne Street will be where local food truck vendors will begin selling to the public. There will have barbecue and sides by Southern Dawgs Catering and CK’s Smokehouse, turkey thighs and desserts by Glo’s Thigh’s and Pie’s, hot donuts from The Dough Co., plenty of fish and wings from Saucy Saucy and Devereux Crab Shack, ox tails, stuffed chicken, Philly cheesesteaks from ABC Catering, and seafood, and fair food from Annie Lou’s Seafood & More. There will be no shortage of food choices for the evening.
Savage Axe’s out of Talking Rock will have a mobile ax throwing trailer for the community to partake in ax throwing. Closed-toed shoes are required. Little ones that can’t participate in the real ax throwing will have an inflatable ax-throwing area so that every member of the family can enjoy the activity.
Skyla Yates will be painting faces, along with over 15 nonprofit and local sponsor booths hosting activities for children and promotional materials.
Live music from 6-8 p.m. will be provided by The Alex Stone Trio. Alex Stone is a Milledgeville native who has been involved in a number of regional groups spread across multiple genres including The Woofs, Station 7, most recently DireWoof, and many other various collaborations. With The Alex Stone Trio expect a half-and-half double entrée of country acoustic jam-grass and bluesy electric funk featuring Skyler Slates on lead guitar and Shane Mantey on drums/ percussion.
