Sheriff’sOfficenews:
A mohter and her son on Colony Farm Road were arrested and charged with animal cruelty. The first to arrive at the scene was an Animal Control officer, who “could spell urine emitting from the residence” while she was still standing outside, according to the incident report. Added the deputy’s narrative in the incident report: “I made contact with Gentry and Julia (Sholar).
Both consented to me entering the residence to observe the condition. I also smelled the strong odor of urine and feces. Inside the living room, I observed heavy dirt, dried crumbled feces and trash covering the floor. The entire floor was covered except for a small rectangular portion, approximately the size of a dog kennel, in the corner next to the window and air conditioning unit.
I observed a dog kennel in the kitchen which had approximately 6 inches worth of “puppy pads” inside covered with old and fresh feces, urine and dog hair...I also observed the dog which was losing a lot of its hair and had some sort of skin condition. The dog was extremely dirty and looked covered in feces and smelled of urine.”
Julia Ellen Scholar, 52, and Gentry Lucas Sholar, 21, later were released on a $500 cash bond.
