Man picks up chainsaws from residence
On June 24, law enforcement responded to a reference to theft. On the scene, an officer met with the complaint who stated that he and another male were working in the yard when he placed a climbing echo chainsaw and 24 inch echo saw on the hill of the residence. The complaint reported seeing a white work truck stop in front of the residence. Reportedly, the driver stepped out of the vehicle and placed the saws in the back of his truck. The complaint stated that he and his co-worker walked to the end of the dead end on the street where the truck was parked. Law enforcement made contact with the driver, identified as Elias Barrita, who was doing construction work in the area. When asked if he took anything, Barrita denied it and offered for the officer to check his truck. The officer reported seeing two saws in the back of the truck and the complaint was able to confirm they were theirs. Barrita stated that he thought the saws were old and not wanted anymore, so he picked them up. Barrita was arrested and charged with theft by taking.
Employee pockets money at Jet Food Store
On June 29, law enforcement was dispatched to the Jet Food Store in reference to theft. An employee reported she was able to review video footage of a suspected employee stealing money. The suspected employee was identified as Catherine Klein who worked the night shift. In the footage, the employee observed customers putting items on the counter and Klein putting the item(s) into a bag. However when the customer would pay, Klein would take the money from the customer, place the money on top of the register and was seen pocketing the money after the customer left. The video footage shows approximately $120.00 being pocketed. A warrant for theft by taking was taken out for Klein.
