Shoplifter apprehended at Walmart
On Nov. 14, law enforcement was dispatched to Walmart at 2592 N.
Columbia St., in reference to a shoplifter in custody. Nancy Beasley was caught passing the last point of sale with eight items not paid for totaling $105.17.
Beasley was issued a citation for theft by shoplifting.
Angry man damages door and window
On Nov. 14, law enforcement responded to Grove Park Condos, at 241 S. Irwin St., in reference to someone kicking in a door. One victim stated she met a male later identified as Lukas Dearman at a bar downtown. Dearman came back to their residence but was asked to leave and became upset. As Dearman walked out of the front door, the door closed, and Dearman proceeded to hit and kick the door causing it to open and damage the structural integrity of the door and frame. Through investigative means, law enforcement was able to identify Dearman and confirm his identity. A short time later, law enforcement received another call from the location, approximately an hour from the original call, stating Dearman had returned and kicked the door again. He also kicked in the front exterior window. Officers canvased the area but found no one.
Potential shoplifter reported at Dollar General On Nov. 16, law enforcement was dispatched to Dollar General, at 1550 N. Columbia St., in reference to shoplifting. A female subject was observed placing merchandise inside her bag.
An employee stated she confronted the subject at the register when she was checking out, however, the female denied placing any merchandise inside her bag. The woman paid for the laundry detergent, however, reportedly did not pay for the other items inside her bag.
The merchandise was make-up products but the employee did not know how much the merchandise cost. Security footage showed the female subject walk in front of the make-up aisle and grab merchandise. The woman then walked to a different aisle and placed her hand inside of her bag then took it out. It is unknown if the female subject placed any merchandise in her bag.
After further investigation of the vehicle described by the employee, law enforcement made an attempt to contact the vehicle owner, however, they were met with negative results.
Drunk driver fails to maintain lane
On Nov. 16 while patrolling the area of North Columbia Street and Meriwether Road, an officer observed a blue Ford Ranger pickup truck failing to maintain the proper lane of travel. The Ford Ranger crossed into the wrong lane several times. The officer initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle as the driver turned into the Walmart parking lot.
The driver, Frank Endrias, stated his truck had mechanical issues with the tie rods and that was what caused him to swerve. The officer informed Endrias he was stopping him for failure to maintain lane and asked him if he had consumed any alcoholic beverages, to which Endrias stated no. Endrias agreed to a standardized field sobriety test and was determined to be unsafe to drive. He also agreed to a breath test and gave a sufficient breath sample on the Intox 9000 with a result of .087 BrAC. Endrias was given citations for failure to maintain lane and DUI alcohol.
