Unknown man uses lost credit card
On July 26, law enforcement met with victim Christopher Reed at the Milledgeville Police Department in reference to fraud. Reed stated he believed he left his Ignite Master Credit Card at Auntie Bellum’s Attic, at 127 W.
Hancock St., and later received a notification on his cell phone of a charge to his card. Reed advised the charge was from The Corner Store, 100 S. Wayne St., for approximately $14.41. The Corner Store provided security camera footage of the incident. The security camera footage showed a white male subject enter the location, pick up a Red Bull energy drink and ask the cashier for a green pack of cigarettes, which matched what was purchased on the receipt. Store personnel also provided the officer with a receipt of the transaction and advised the male subject is a regular customer at the location, but they did not know his name. Auntie Bellum’s Attic personnel stated they did not notice Reed left his credit card and confirmed that the male subject from the Corner Store footage came into the location after Reed but did not purchase any items.
Daughter steals phone to Cash App herself
On July 26, law enforcement made contact with Glenda Fulford by telephone regarding a theft. Glenda stated on July 25 her daughter, Holly Fulford, came by her house to stay. Glenda stated she had a short conversation with Holly before going to bed. When she woke up, her Samsung cell phone was missing off her bedroom night stand. Glenda stated she searched everywhere in her room and house multiple times and could not locate the phone. Glenda stated Holly was the only one in the house all night, and the only one who may have stolen the phone. Law enforcement called Holly to speak with her regarding her mom’s missing phone and the caller identified themselves as Holly. When informed of the reason for the call, however, Holly claimed officers had the wrong number. Glenda provided bank statements showing eight transactions from her account. Each transaction was from Cash App to Holly Fulford. All eight transactions totaled the sum of $880.
Glenda stated she did not authorize the transactions, and did not send them to Holly. A warrant for misdemeanor theft by taking and felony financial transaction card fraud was secured for Holly Fulford.
Man flees from cops during traffic stop
On July 27, an officer observed a 2012 Hyundai Elantra with its passenger headlight out traveling north on Vinson Highway. The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop but the driver failed to stop and turned onto South Elbert Street, continuing at approximately 30-40 mph.
The driver failed to stop for the stop sign on South Elbert Street at the intersection of Horne Avenue. The driver eventually pulled into the driveway of 1451 S. Elbert St. and got out of the vehicle with a purple book bag. The driver ran toward the back of the residence and the officer chased the driver on foot behind the residence. When the officer rounded the corner of the residence, the driver no longer had the purple book bag in his hands. The driver was apprehended and later identified as Chassler Lawrence. Lawrence stated he gave the bag to his girlfriend but then began to repeat that he did not give her a book bag.
The girlfriend gave consent to search the residence for a purple book bag but the officer did not find a book bag matching the one Lawrence had. A criminal warrant was secured for Chassler Lawrence for fleeing/attempting to elude a police officer. Two citations were also issued for failure to stop at a stop sign and lighted headlights required at certain times.
Man caught stealing candy bars
On July 28, law enforcement contacted the complainant at Stop-N-Save, at 844 W. Montgomery St., in reference to shoplifting. Surveillance footage revealed Clarence Sims entered the location and picked up several candy bars. Sims then went to the next aisle and appeared to place the candy bars in his pocket before walking up to the cash register and paying for some chips and drinks. He left the location without purchasing the candy bars. Sims was arrested and a citation for theft by shoplifting was issued.
Motorcyclist speeds in 25 mph zone
On July 28, while on routine patrol in the area of North Elbert Street and East Montgomery Street, an officer observed an orange Suzuki GSXR 600 rapidly accelerate and immediately change lanes, while continuing to accelerate. The vehicle’s speed was at 56 mph in a posted 25 mph zone. As the driver spotted the patrol vehicle, he began braking and threw his hands in the air. The driver, later identified as Darien Gendraw, was asked to step off his motorcycle. Due to the volume of traffic in the area, Gendraw’s speed, and the disregard for the safety of the motoring public, a citation was issued for reckless driving.
