Uncle steals TV from residence
On June 15, law enforcement was dispatched in reference to a theft. They made contact with the victim who stated their uncle, Jihad Aziz Yamini Dennis, who lives in a shed outside the residence, came inside and took her 32 inch Roku TV without her knowledge. The TV was valued at $200. The victim stated that Dennis walked out with the blanket covered TV and that they did not realize it was missing until they returned to their room. The victim states that Dennis told her the TV was outside in the shed but when she went to check, it was not there. According to the report, as the victim walked back to the front of the yard, Dennis got into a car and sped away. Another witness reported that they did not see the theft but heard noises in the house and woke up to find Dennis with the blanket covered TV. Dennis has active warrants out of Baldwin County as well and a warrant for theft by taking was secured for Dennis.
Man assaults woman at Columbia Pub
On June 17, law enforcement responded to the Columbia Pub in reference to an assault. Upon arrival, an officer met with two witnesses who stated they saw a male assault a female in front of the business and point a gun at the pub’s owner. The witnesses provided a video where the male could be seen striking a female in the face, grabbing and shaking her by her neck and shirt collar, and then pointing a handgun at another male when he tried to stop the assault. One witness said the male, later identified as Ralph Louis, has left the location before law enforcement arrived and gave instructions on the way he fled. Law enforcement located the vehicle traveling northbound on but reported that the vehicle was refusing the stop and still traveling northbound. After locating the female victim and ensuring she was okay, the officers met at the Quail Place where h Louis was taken into custody. The female victim stated she was inside the business when Louis approached her and asked why she was there. She explained that she did not know why Louis confronted her when they were friends but that as the argument escalated, Louis struck her in the face with his fist. The victim stated that she retaliated by throwing a drink in Louis’ face, and he, reportedly, dragged her out of the business by her shirt collar. According to the victim’s statement, Louis began to again strike her and shake her violently by grabbing the back of her neck while they were outside. When asked about the gun, the victim stated she did not see a gun during the incident. Law enforcement observed the victim’s shirt collar stretched out and located a scratch on the back of her neck. The victim was seen by EMS personnel and declined transport. Law enforcement then met with the other male in the video who stated both subjects were regular customers and normally got along. He reported that the argument began when Louis entered the pub and began cursing at the female before striking her. The male confirmed that the victim threw a drink in Louis’s face before both went outside and that he saw Louis striking and shaking her outside. Reportedly, this is the moment he went outside to intervene, and Louis drew a handgun from his pants and briefly pointed it at him before putting it away and apologizing. Warrants for battery and aggravated assault were secured for Louis.
Driver is pursued due to odor of green marijuana
On June 17, law enforcement was alerted by a vehicle on South Elbert Street at the intersection of East Hancock Street that had a strong odor of green marijuana. Two officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop but the vehicle failed to stop. Sirens were then activated as the vehicle continued to travel south on Elbert Street and accelerated at a high rate of speed. The vehicle would continue to drive, refusing to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of South Warren Street and Cline Avenue before turning left on Cline Avenue. Law enforcement briefly lost sight of the vehicle until it reached the intersection of Pinewood Drive and Twin Pine Road. One sergeant observed dirt kicked up in the area as if something was thrown from the vehicle and then they regained sight of the vehicle. The vehicle refused again to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Pinewood Drive and Perry Drive. Finally, the vehicle came to a halt on the intersection of Nelson Road and Underwood Road. Law enforcement prevented the driver from fleeing on foot and placed the driver, identified as Javan Mitchell, under arrest. During a probable cause search of the vehicle, law enforcement located a scale and marijuana shake, as well as a second cell phone. A sergeant searched the area where there was belief of something being thrown from the vehicle but due to the density of the woods and height of the ditch, no items were located. A warrant for felony fleeing and attempting to elude police officers was secured for Mitchell.
Boyfriend hits car with hammer
On June 19, law enforcement was dispatched to a residence in reference to damage to property. Upon arrival, law enforcement met with the victim who stated her boyfriend, identified as Geoigio Richards, hit her vehicle with a hammer. The victim stated that she got into an argument with him where she grabbed a bat from behind a bush and struck Richards' friend’s vehicle. Richards stated that the victim h wanted him to move his friend’s Honda and confirmed that the victim grabbed a bat and struck the Honda leaving minor damage to the hood. Richards also stated that he grabbed a hammer from inside of the residence and struck the left driver side taillight on the victim’s car causing damage. Further into the investigation, the owner of the Honda, arrived at the location to point out any damages done to his vehicle. He identified a small dent and scratch on his hood but did not wish to pursue any charges. The victim was able to provide video footage where it is reported that there was an exchange of words regarding the Honda and the victim was seen grabbing an orange bat from behind the brush by the front door, walking towards the Honda and a loud bang was heard after. Richards’ actions weren't recorded on the footage. Richards was arrested for criminal trespass (family violence).
