Building materials stolen from Pavilion Circle
On April 19, law enforcement was notified that over $2,000 worth of pipe, valves, and other building materials were stolen from 155 Pavilion Circle. The property was purchased to be turned into low-income housing. The property owner stated he just wanted the incident documented due to other tenants reporting similar incidents.
Man flees leading to vehicle pursuit
On April 19, law enforcement conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on the 700 block of North Columbia Street.
The driver, identified as Jhalienne Drake, was informed that his driver's license was suspended and he was under arrest. Drake refused to exit his vehicle and reportedly told the passenger of his vehicle he was going to “go.” The passenger exited the vehicle and Drake fled. A vehicle pursuit occurred in which Drake’s vehicle reached an excess of 80 miles per hour, failed to stop at stop signs, and ran a red light. Eventually a Georgia State Patrol trooper took lead in the pursuit in an attempt to perform a PIT maneuver. Drake stopped the vehicle in front of 145 South Irwin Street and exited the vehicle. He ran toward the Bellamy apartment complex. A perimeter was set up in an attempt to locate Drake but they were unable to locate him. On April 20, Drake turned himself into law enforcement. A warrant for misdemeanor obstruction of an officer and felony fleeing/attempting to elude officers was sworn against Drake. He also received the following citations: failure to obey a traffic control device, failure to stop at a stop sign, reckless driving, improper passing, driving while license suspended, failure to maintain lane, and head light requirements.
Bike stolen outside Hop-In
On April 20, law enforcement was dispatched to Hop-In, on 1687 N.
Columbia St., in reference to the theft of a bike. The owner left his black mountain bike outside the location on a pillar almost directly in front of the door for approximately three minutes while he was inside. Video surveillance footage showed an unknown male walk from the Waffle House side of the parking lot, get on the bike and ride towards Lowes.
The bike was located later in a ditch near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard without any damages.
Man flees arrest
On April 20, law enforcement was dispatched to the Jet Food Store, at 799 SR 212, in reference to a suspicious person and vehicle. The driver, who identified himself as Brian Lenard Williams stated he was in the parking lot because he had the wrong key to the vehicle and he was waiting on his brother to return with the correct key. Williams stated that his brother walked away to get the correct key for the car. While the officer was speaking with Williams, he smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Dispatch advised me that Williams had active warrants through the Houston County Sheriff's Office and the Warner Robins Police Department.
Williams was asked to step out of the vehicle and stated he was going to roll up his window and turn off the lights of the vehicle first. Williams rolled the window up, locked the vehicle, and put the vehicle in reverse to flee. A vehicle pursuit began and Willaims reached speeds in excess of 90 miles per hour.
Eventually, Williams turned right on Old Monticello Road and another immediate right into the grass, attempting to circle back onto Nelson Road. This led him to crash the vehicle into a ditch. The officer blocked Williams' vehicle in with their patrol vehicle and ordered him out of his vehicle at gunpoint. He complied and was placed in double locking handcuffs.
Warrants for fleeing and attempting to elude, reckless driving, driving while license suspended, and obstruction of an officer were all secured against Williams.
Man steals items Budget Inn
On April 20, law enforcement was dispatched to Budget Inn, on 225 E. Hancock St., in reference to a burglary. Two employees reported witnessing Wayne Collins stealing over $1,000 worth of items from the laundry room, which is an employee only area. Video surveillance footage showed Collins enter the room with a bucket and shopping cart and then leave the room before being confronted by one of the two employees. One warrant for burglary was secured for Collins.
Men trespass onto car dealership p roperties On April 21, law enforcement was dispatched to 2818 N. Columbia St. in reference to two subjects trespassing on the property. The two subjects were walking around the Dodge side of the property looking under vehicles, possibly attempting to steal parts from the vehicles. The officer walked between the Toyota and Dodge Dealership and found the two males on the outside of the fence walking towards him. When asked to come with the officer, they fled into the woods. The officer gave pursuit to one male but lost sight of him. Another officer located the second male under an unoccupied mobile home. The male was later identified as William Eugene Hurt. Hurt was asked why he ran and stated he did not run and that he had been allowed on the property. Law enforcement advised him he was not allowed to be there due to the fence around the entire property and multiple locked gates that he had to cross to get on the property. Hurt declined to tell the officer who he was with. A lieutenant was called out to assist in the search with the drone but officers were unable to locate anyone else in the general area with any foot patrol or the drone. Warrants for criminal trespass, criminal attempt (theft by taking), and obstruction of officers were sworn against Hurt.
