Unknown suspect damages window
On Oct. 19, law enforcement was dispatched to an apartment on West Franklin Street in reference to a potential burglary. The complainant stated the resident contacted him regarding the window screen of the apartment being damaged. The window was broken but only one pane of the window was missing. No broken glass was on the ground below the window. Officers entered the residence and cleared it. No one was inside the residence. According to the report, there were no points of entry observed leading into the residence. As of The Baldwin Bulletin’s deadline, there is no further information.
Palm makes vacant house his home
On Oct. 19, law enforcement responded to 100 Presswood St. in reference to a burglary. The complainant stated he has not lived at the residence in approximately seven or eight months due to health issues. HIs daughter went to the residence to retrieve some of his belongings and noticed a light in the back bedroom had been turned on. Due to the house being vacant, the complainant stated he had the power services turned off in July. According to the report, the front door appeared to have been forced open, but officers cleared the residence, finding no one inside. While walking through the residence, the officer reported it did appear that someone had been living in the residence. After clearing the residence, the officer found an identification card belonging to Johnny Palm on the coffee table in the living room.
One warrant was taken out on Palm for burglary, and another was taken out for theft of services.
Potential theft at Rainbow
On Oct. 20, law enforcement was dispatched to Rainbow, 2400 N.
Columbia St., in reference to a possible shoplifting. Store personnel stated, approximately five minutes before calling the police, a woman and a man left the store carrying a large bag filled to the rim and would not stop and let personnel search the bag. According to the camera footage, the male left the shoe store across from Rainbow and entered the store with a large Shoe Department Bag that was full. The male walked around for a bit then placed the bag on the ground, out of camera view, and left the location. A while after, both the male and the female came back in and were noticeably searching for something. They spotted the bag, out of camera view, grabbed it and left immediately after. Due to the bag being out of camera view, the reporting officer was unable to determine if anyone else in the location placed anything inside during the time frame it was on the floor.
