Man steals candy from Exxon
On June 18, law enforcement was dispatched to Exxon, on North Jefferson Street, in reference to shoplifting. Paul Pearson was seen on camera footage entering the store and taking items off the candy rack, picking up a canned drink, and removing a shelf item that he attempted to conceal. Pearson paid for the can drink totaling $1.63 but failed to pay for the concealed items. Pearson left the location in the direction of North Wayne Street. Warrants were secured for shoplifting for Paul Pearson.
Unknown man steals pizzas from delivery person
On June 18, law enforcement was dispatched to Domino’s, on North Columbia Street, in reference to a theft.
A manager stated that the delivery person was delivering a call-in order of three pizzas to a residence on Orchard Hill Road when an unknown male in a ski-mask took the pizzas and ran off.
According to the delivery person, as they approached the residence, there was not much lighting on the street or near the house. After exiting her vehicle, a male wearing all black approached her. She handed the pizzas to him and advised him of the total owed before realizing the male was wearing a black ski-mask.
The male reportedly turned and ran off into the darkness with the pizzas. The delivery person was unable to provide any more description of the offender.
Reportedly the person who placed the order did not contact Domino’s about her missing order and when advised her order had been stolen, she did not appear too concerned. The pizzas were valued at $26.99 and Domino’s wants to press charges, if the offender was identified.
Potential shoplifting occurs at Dollar General
On June 19, law enforcement was dispatched to Dollar General, on Roberson Mill Road, in reference to a potential theft by shoplifting. Reportedly, an unknown female stole sausages, a six pack of Dr. Pepper and a tub of ice cream. The woman allegedly became irate and dropped the Dr. Pepper on the floor and began kicking it before leaving the store.
As of The Baldwin Bulletin’s deadline, no suspect has been identified.
Man breaks back window of vehicle and leaves scene
On June 23, law enforcement was patrolling the area of Allen Memorial Drive when an officer was flagged down by a vehicle. The driver informed the officer that Antonio Williams busted out their back vehicle window while parked at Rod’s Stop and Shop for gas.
The officer and driver returned to Rod’s Stop and Shop where the officer observed a hole in the back window and located a rock in the backseat of the vehicle.
Security footage from the gas station showed a man, matching Williams’ appearance in the system, walking into the parking lot to where the vehicle was parked at the gas pump. He threw the rock at the vehicle and then walked out of the parking lot in the direction of Allen Memorial Drive. The driver can be seen pulling away and following Williams down the roadway. Williams was discovered to already have an outstanding warrant for a probation violation and a warrant was secured for criminal trespass. As of The Baldwin Bulletin’s deadline, Williams was not located.
Man chases woman in Jet 33 parking lot
On June 23, law enforcement responded to Jet 33, on North Columbia Street, in reference to a male chasing a female through the parking lot. Upon arrival, the female informed police that she was searching through her partner’s phone and found texts that made her uncomfortable, so she left the residence to purchase cigarettes to calm down.
Upon arriving at the gas station, her boyfriend, Devin Humphries, reportedly started grabbing her and chasing her around the vehicle to try and take her phone and keys from her. According to a witness in the store, Humprhies arrived at the location while the female was inside and began approaching her vehicle. They stated the female told Humphries to stay away from the vehicle and they saw Humphries chase her to take her keys.Humphries stated that he was only grabbing his phone from her and later admitted to taking her phone, though he denied grabbing her. Camera footage confirmed the witness’ and female’s statements showing Humphries violently grabbing the female multiple times and chasing her around the vehicle. Footage also confirmed everything took place in front of the couple’s children. Humphries was placed under arrest and the odor of marijuana was detected from Humphries vehicle and a search of the vehicle yielded three zip lock baggies containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana and a digital scale. State warrants for simple battery (family violence), two counts of cruelty to children in the third degree, and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute were secured for Devin Humphries.
Juveniles steal truck from residence on Frazier Drive
On June 24, law enforcement was notified of a stolen vehicle near Frazier Drive Southeast. The owner of the vehicle left it at his father’s residence when they went to go fishing and returned to find the truck missing. The driver stated the driver door was more than likely unlocked and the keys were in the truck when he left to go fishing. On the same date, law enforcement received multiple Flock notifications on South Jefferson Street for the stolen vehicle.
Multiple units responded to the location in an attempt to locate the vehicle.
Deputy Wright observed the vehicle parked in front of the A-building of the Milledgeville Manor and two males exited the vehicle. He gave chase to the driver and officer Stephen Hutto gave chase on the opposite side to locate the driver. Hutto grabbed the male and placed him on the ground, using the amount of force necessary to arrest him.
The male was checked and asked for injuries and denied EMS. While walking the driver to the patrol car, he stated multiple times he was not the driver and the driver ran into the building. Other responding deputies then made contact with the other individual. The driver and passenger were juveniles. The passenger was arrested by LT Towe for unrelated charges and transported to the Sheriff’s Office juvenile holding cells for his disruptive behavior while on scene. The driver was charged for felony theft by receiving stolen property, misdemeanor obstruction of law enforcement officer, and driving without a valid license.
Shots fired at Milledgeville Manor
On June 24, law enforcement was dispatched to the Milledgeville Manor, on South Jefferson Street, in reference to shots fired. Several residents reported not hearing any gun shots and an initial patrol of the area did not locate an offender. However, the reporting officer was notified of video footage showing shots being fired in front of the O-building. The officer observed a 9mm shell casing on the ground in front of the O-building and found three more 9mm shell casings on the ground nearby. The officer left the scene to watch the video footage at the Sheriff’s Office that revealed Bobby Grable began a brief fist fight with an unknown male.
Grable then walks away and sits on the steps outside of the O-building, takes out a black firearm, and discharges it directly in the air at least twice. Grable stands up, and begins to walk toward the N-building before pointing the firearm and appearing to fire more shots at an unknown item or person. An individual, identified as Antonio Smith, is seen standing in front of a car watching the entire incident. The video concludes with Grable running to Smith’s vehicle and getting into the passenger side to flee the scene. The vehicle was then seen on Flock cameras traveling south on Gordon Highway. Warrants for misdemeanor reckless conduct and felony possession of firearm by a convicted felon were secured for Bobby Grable. Warrants for misdemeanor party to the crime of reckless conduct and felony possession of firearm by a convicted felon were secured for Antonio Smith. Later that day, the vehicle was captured on Flock cameras at West Thomas Street and West Thomas Circle where Antonio Smith was placed in handcuffs. As of the original time of the report, Grable was still wanted.
Man pulls gun out of pants in Jet Food Store
On June 25, law enforcement was dispatched to the Jet Food Store, on North Jefferson Street, in reference to threats. The complainant, victim, and multiple witnesses stated a male named Caleb Williams pulled into the parking lot, entered the store and began arguing with the victim. Williams then left the store for a short time and the victim hid in the store as Williams reentered the store. He reportedly pulled a rifle out of his pants and began asking about the victim’s location. Williams’ girlfriend reportedly pushed Williams out of the store before he could approach the counter and he threw the gun into the trunk of his vehicle. Williams never pointed the gun at anyone or brandished it. Video footage confirmed the statements. A warrant for simple assault was secured on Caleb Williams.
Fight breaks out on Highland Avenue
On June 26, law enforcement was dispatched to Highland Avenue in reference to a crowd of people actively fighting in the roadway in front of a residence. Quandrelle Goddard, Jaquez Goddard, Shymecia Lewis, Shaneria Lewis and My’ Kia Whipple were all detained with assistance of multiple law enforcement officers for fighting.
All five individuals were transported to the Baldwin County Law Enforcement Center (BCLEC) without incident. Later, an additional arrest was made for subject Tanisha Goddard and she was also brought to the BCLEC without incident.
According to officers on-scene, Jaquez Goddard and Shymecia Lewis were initially involved in a verbal altercation over Shymecia reportedly owing money to Jaquez for baby supplies. After a brief verbal argument, the altercation became physical between the two at which point Shaneria Lewis and My’ Kia Whipple became involved in attacking Jaquez.
Officers stepped in to break up the parties involved but were subsequently drawn into the altercation as well. One officer stated when, arriving on scene, he observed Quandrelle Goddard strike Shymecia Lewis in the face with a closed fist before he detained Jaquez Goddard. A witness also stated hearing the loud commotion and visibly seeing all parties actively involved in the physical altercation. He also stated, during the altercation, he observed Jaquez Goddard produce a handgun from his waistband and point it at Shymecia Lewis before returning it under his clothes and walking off from the area.
Warrants for affray were sworn against all parties involved. Warrants for aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime were also sworn against Jaquez Goddard.
