Wires stolen from residence on Evans Avenue On April 5, a site manager reported damage to property at a residence on Evans Avenue. Someone cut and stole various yellow and orange electrical wires for various parts from a room during remodeling at the residence.

The various wires are expected to cost $2,500 to replace. The last time the wires were seen in good condition was on April 4. As of The Baldwin Bulletin’s deadline, no suspects were identified.

Merchandise stolen from store on North Jefferson Street

On April 7, law enforcement was dispatched to North Jefferson Street in reference to shoplifting. The clerk stated three subjects entered the store.

One subject began stuffing items into two backpacks while the other two subjects were making drinks at the soda dispenser. The bookbag suspect was confronted by an employee and dropped one backpack before fleeing the store.

The other two subjects reportedly tossed their drinks and stated they did not have any money to pay for them. Upon checking the contents of the bookbag, there was various stolen merchandise estimated to be worth approximately $60. The second bag was found later by the recyclable area behind the store. As of The Baldwin Bulletin’s deadline, no suspects were identified.

Man attempts burglary at several residences

On April 7, law enforcement was dispatched to Stone Meadow Road and Briarcliff Road in reference to a suspicious person. A bald white man was reported on several properties in the area. At the first property, he was reported searching a flower pot, likely looking for a key and peeking into windows of the residence. At another residence, near Briarcliff Road, the man opened the gate to a resident’s courtyard and tried to open both the front door and garage door before being confronted by the resident. He reportedly told the resident that he needed to use a computer to unlock his phone and when denied permission, he left the location. At another residence, in the same location, the man attempted to open the back door to the residence. When confronted, he gave the resident of the home the same explanation about his phone. Upon being denied permission to enter, he left the location. As of The Baldwin Bulletin’s deadline, he has not been identified.

Man receives warning over use of marijuana

On April 9, law enforcement was patrolling the Coopers Road area when a White Ford Ranger was spotted going at a high rate of speed. The vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Woods Drive and Coopers Road.

Once a traffic stop was conducted, the driver, identified as Morgan Clifford Spires, advised he did not have a license.

Spires was cooperative and stepped out of the vehicle and was escorted into the patrol vehicle. An odor of marijuana was reportedly coming from Spire’s vehicle and what appeared to be a few marijuana buds was located on the floorboard of the pickup truck. With probable cause to search, the officer searched the vehicle but did not locate anything else.

Spires was cited for failing to stop at a stop sign and driving while license is revoked. Spires was also given a warning for the marijuana that was found in the vehicle.
