Dog food shoplifted from Walmart
On Oct. 11, law enforcement was dispatched to Walmart in reference to a theft. A loss prevention officer observed a vendor that works for Walmart, identified as Tanautica Farrar, not scan two Purina One dry dog food bags in her cart. The items were valued at $67.96.
When Farrar tried to leave without paying, the officer stopped her. Farrar claimed to have scanned the first item at a different register but video surveillance showed that she did not. When questioned by a police officer, Farrar reported that she had forgotten some items and asked a self-checkout manager if she could leave the cart to pick up the additional items. She then states, once again, that she scanned one bag of dog food but forgot to scan the other. However, after reviewing receipts of Farrar’s transaction at both registers and video surveillance footage, the stories did not align. Farrar was cited for theft by shoplifting.
Found property located at rental property
On Oct. 11, law enforcement was dispatched to a residence regarding found property. The property owner was at the residence to clean when they located six cell phones, three computers, four toy guns and multiple bullets. The owner advised they will continue to turn in found property from previous tenants as she cleans. As of The Baldwin Bulletin’s deadline, there is no further information.
Man trespassed from Jet Food Store for stealing sandwich
On Oct. 13, law enforcement was dispatched to the Jet Food Store in reference to a theft. Employees identified an unknown male who stole from the business on Oct. 11. The offender was identified as Tommie May. May informed an officer he had not taken anything from the store. While speaking with him, the officer was advised by Milledgeville Police Department Dispatch that May had an active warrant out of Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office, for misdemeanor probation violation. Therefore, May was put in handcuffs per departmental policy. Security footage at Jet Food Store showed May approaching the register with multiple items. When the clerk walks away from the register, he can be seen grabbing a sandwich and concealing it in his right pocket.
The sandwich was worth $6.09. He was transported to the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office and booked for his outstanding probation violation warrant and cited for theft by shoplifting (second offense). He was trespassed from the location.
Fight breaks out near Ned Kelly’s
On Oct. 14, a law enforcement officer was patrolling downtown Milledgeville when they observed a fight between Alejandro Del Rello and Tyler Lester.
Del Rello reported that Lester punched him in the face after he bumped into Lester as they exited the bar. He further reported that he hit Lester back in self-defense. Later Dell Rollo also advised the altercation began because he threw a drink on Lester when he bumped into him. Lester confirmed that he was upset when Del Rollo bumped into him but he did not intend to fight until the drink was thrown on him. After that event, reportedly, he punched Del Rollo in the face in self-defense. Lester was charged with affray. Del Rollo was charged with affray and minor in possession of alcohol.
Entering auto at AMC Theaters
On Oct. 15, law enforcement was dispatched to AMC Theaters in reference to an entering auto. The victim reported that when he and his friends exited the theater, they discovered the passenger side door of his vehicle was open. The center console was open and trash had been thrown around the vehicle but only an iPhone 11 was missing. Security footage from the theater showed an SUV circle the vehicle and then park nearby.
An unknown male exited the SUV and walked to the unsecured passenger side door. He rummaged around the interior for several minutes before leaving. As of The Baldwin Bulletin’s deadline, there is no further information.
Over $1000 worth of tools stolen from vehicle toolbox
On Oct. 15, law enforcement was dispatched in reference to possible theft by taking. The victim stated that tools had been taken from the toolbox attached to their vehicle. One Milwaukee M18 side grinder, a Milwaukee M18 jigsaw, a Milwaukee M12 soldering iron, a Fiskars machete, a Milwaukee M18 3/8 impact gun and a Milwaukee tool bag containing a screw gun, a drill, and miscellaneous hand tools were missing.
Approximate total value of tools taken was $1,144. Surveillance footage showed an unknown male suspect walking up the driveway and approaching the vehicle. They began to remove tools from the toolbox before leaving the residence in a silver minivan of unknown make, model nor tag. Due to not being able to identify the male subject, no charges were filed.
