They further reported being denied service by the complainant and called racial slurs. After this, they decided to confront him in the parking lot. The complainant reported that the females entered the establishment after rush hour when employees were still cleaning tables to be ready for serving. When the group was reportedly told they would have to wait a few minutes before they could be seated, they became disrespectful and demanded service.
The complainant stated that after this, he left to fulfill another customer’s order and take it out to them in the parking lot when the group followed him and initiated the verbal altercation. At this time, his wife saw the altercation from inside and came outside to prevent a fight from occurring.
Allegedly, when his wife intervened, Harris and Carter pushed her pregnant stomach. So, the couple retreated into the business and locked themselves inside to prevent being attacked further. In response, the group began to bang on the windows and doors in anger. Multiple witnesses reported seeing the group follow the complainant into the parking lot and strike the glass windows after the couple returned inside.
Security footage showed Harris and Carter as the aggressors in the situation. Both were observed following the complainant into the parking lot and getting into his face. The complainant was seen backing away from them and his wife was observed intervening. The footage did skip too much to discern if she was struck by Carter or Harris.
However, the footage did show Carter striking the complainant in the head as he retreated to the business and showed the entire group striking both the door and windows to attempt entry.
