Arguments over a utility bill turns into a brotherly brawl
On Aug. 8, law enforcement responded to a fight involving weapons. The complainant, Terrell Lewis, reported that his brother pulled a handgun on him while they were arguing over Delriko Reeves not paying his portion of the utility bill. Lewis stated that during the argument, Reeves pulled out a gun to threaten him and stated there was no physical contact. Reeves confirmed the argument was over the bill but denied having a gun and reported that Lewis picked up a pick ax to stab him. Reeves was patted down prior to this report and no guns were located on his person.
Reportedly, Lewis continued to put his hands on Reeves and tackled him to the ground during the argument. A fresh, bleeding laceration to Reeves’ left leg was consistent with this account of events. During the investigation, Reeves was found to have an active warrant due to a probation violation and was placed under arrest. Due to physical and testimonial evidence, Lewis was also arrested. Upon arriving at the jail, an officer reported finding marijuan in her backseat after they were transported. Lewis was charged with battery (family violence.) Reeves was booked on his active warrant and charged with crossing the guard line with drugs.
Man conceals stolen candy
On Aug. 9, law enforcement was dispatched to Exxon in reference to shoplifting. Reportedly, a male subject, later identified as Willie Willis, was pocketing unknown amounts of candy.
An employee attempted to confront him at the front counter, but he exited the establishment and drove away. Video surveillance showed Willis entering the candy aisle and pocketing an unknown number of Snickers from the display.
Then, the subject proceeded to place the snicker bars into his left pant pocket and turn around in a scanning motion before walking past the cash register. He paused to give his friend money before waving his hand at the clerk in a disregarding motion and leaving the premises. An officer located the offender’s vehicle after leaving Exon and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle proceeded to stop and both males identified themselves. The officer observed a snickers bar in the center console and both Willis and his friend were detained. After questioning, Willis later confirmed that he grabbed two Snickers bars (totalling $2.60) but proceeded to give his friend the money to pay for them and proceeded to walk out with the candy.
His friend did not pay for them. Due to the concealment, Willis was cited for theft by shoplifting and signed a prohibited entry form. Willis was turned back over to his vehicle and left the location without incident.
Male steals car parts when going to get a tire change
On Aug. 9, law enforcement was dispatched to Simmons Auto Care in reference to a burglary. Reportedly, Antonyo Evans, on security camera footage, backed into the garage in a Nissan Altima and took six batteries (total cost of $300), a jumper cable ($100), and a pink tool bag ($30) and placed the items into the trunk of the vehicle. The victim reported that Evans did not have permission to be at the location. When questioned, Evans stated he arrived at the location for a tire change and was waiting on his cousin to arrive to do the change.
He further stated that he was dropped off by his fiancé and the vehicle did not belong to him. Reportedly, Evan was given permission to clean up by picking up scraps from the work area and only arrived at the location so he could ask Simmons for work in return for money.
Evans had active warrants out of the Milledgeville Police Department for DUI and possession of marijuana and was detained. With permission officers searched the vehicle and found six batteries, one jumper cable, and a pink tool bag that was seen being placed into the trunk of the vehicle on the security camera. Another witness reported to police that he saw Evans arrive at the address and that he requested a tire change in which he informed him to wait on Simmons. Reportedly, Evans then left the address to pick up a car tire. Warrants were taken out on Evans for burglary and criminal trespass.
Walmart employee steals $800
On Aug. 11, law enforcement was dispatched to Walmart in reference to a theft. An associate with Asset Protection advised that employee Emilia Ruddy was recorded taking cash from the register on multiple occasions. The total amount taken totaled to $882 as of June 2022.
Recordings of the incidents along with receipts were given to law enforcement.
Ruddy was arrested for theft by taking.
Stolen vehicle found disassembled in another county
On Aug.13, law enforcement was dispatched in reference to a stolen vehicle. The owner of the missing vehicle reported that her previous boyfriend had her vehicle and was using it to give someone else a ride to the store. However, they reported that the vehicle stopped at the hospital where the passenger left the scene. The owner stated they last saw the vehicle at Pierce's Gas Station and suspected the passenger of stealing the vehicle. On Aug. 14, law enforcement made contact with the boyfriend who stated he did not remember anything from the incident except waking up at the hospital. Later that day, law enforcement received a call from Wilkinson County Sheriff's Office who stated they located the stolen vehicle after it was reported to them.
The individual who reported the vehicle explained that they saw the car door in the woods on Aug. 12 but thought nothing of it until he was riding along the wooded area on Aug. 14 on his four wheeler and found the disassembled car. The car was in pieces, but the car seats, engine, tires, frame, and axles were missing. The witness stated that only his wife and father-in-law were there with him when they found the vehicle and called dispatch. The vehicle pieces were turned over to Pittman's Towing. There is nothing further at this time.
Hop-In Gas employee steals money through lottery tickets
On Aug. 14, law enforcement was dispatched to Hop-In Gas in reference to a theft. The complainant reported that their employee, Lashunda Lockett, was stealing money via lottery tickets.
Video footage showed Lockett taking the lottery tickets without paying as well as multiple inventory sheets from counting the register every night. Lockett took lottery scratch-offs and scanned them on the lottery computer then scratched them off and scanned them again as well as entered the amount into the lottery computer to convert the tickets
MORE CRIME WATCH >> A7 into money. The inventory sheets showed a total of $2,277 less dating all the way back to July 21. The sheets showed each day having less funds each time Lockett worked. When officers attempted to arrest Lockett, she pulled away and an officer attempted to grab Lockett’s wrists as she refused to comply with verbal commands and continued resisting. After continuous resistance, Lockett was arrested for theft by conversion, criminal trespass damage to property, and two counts of obstruction of law enforcement.
Man speeds on North Columbia Street
On Aug. 14, law enforcement conducted a traffic stop on a Ford Explorer that was speeding south bound on North Columbia Street near Longleaf Trail. The vehicle was going 78 mph in a 55 mph zone. Reportedly, the vehicle began to swerve in the road and accelerate as the traffic stop was conducted. When the officer made contact with the vehicle, they could see the driver reaching for something or attempting to hide something. When inquired about the movement, the driver, identified as Devonte Montrell Williams, denied any such thing.
Reportedly, the smell of alcohol was coming from the vehicle and Williams agreed to be tested. He tested positive for alcohol with an estimated BAC of 0.144 grams. With permission, the officer began searching the vehicle for the incident of arrest and located an open container of Bud Light Lime behind the same seat that he saw the driver hiding something before. The passenger in the vehicle did confirm that Williams tried to hide the alcoholic beverage when they were stopped. The passenger was later released and the vehicle was turned over to her. Williams received citations for DUI-Alcohol (misdemeanor), speeding (misdemeanor), and open container (misdemeanor).
