On Oct. 21, law enforcement was dispatched to Ag Pro, at 2661 N. Columbia St., in reference to a theft that had already occurred.
The manager stated he was out on the lot taking inventory and moving tractors around, when he noticed the 2021 John Deere 6120E Cab Tractor was missing. Surveillance footage showed the theft taking place on Oct. 16 when a white cab truck with a flatbed, pulling a goose-neck trailer, parked in the entrance of Edgewood Apartments. The subject took the gate off the hinge and moved it.
The tractor is then driven out and onto the trailer.
The truck left with the tractor northbound on North Columbia Street.
The tractor is valued at $70,000. The investigation is ongoing.
Wanted person tries to run
On Oct. 23, the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Georgia State Patrol with a warrant service at the Milledgeville Manor.
The wanted person, Jovarius Lundy, left the residence prior to their arrival. Lundy entered a dark green Toyota truck and left the area. While searching the area for the vehicle, an officer located the Toyota truck traveling south on South Jefferson Street and observed it turn onto Vinson Highway. The officer, along with GSP K9 Trooper Rhodes, initiated a traffic stop with the vehicle at the intersection of Barnes Avenue and South Elbert Street. As the vehicle came to a stop, the officer noticed the passenger’s hand flailing inside the cabin. The passenger, positively identified as Lundy, exited the vehicle and fled northbound on foot into the wooded area between South Elbert Street and McKinley Street. A perimeter was established and, after a brief search, Lundy was located and taken into custody without incident.
Lundy was transported to the jail and turned over to jail staff on his outstanding warrants.
A warrant was sworn against Lundy for misdemeanor obstruction of a law enforcement officer.
Driver caught with multiple drugs On Oct. 24, law enforcement was patrolling the area of Kings Road and Stembridge Road when an officer observed a gray 2017 Hyundai Sonata bearing a damaged passenger side taillight lens. A GCIC check revealed that the vehicle had a suspended registration and no valid insurance. The driver, who identified herself as Lekisha Hester, stated the vehicle had insurance but she could not produce a paper or digital copy of valid insurance. The officer could smell an odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle and observed a crumbled up clear sandwich bag with marijuana residue inside between Hester’s legs.
While Hester was looking on her phone, she was reportedly texting and calling people instead of trying to find her insurance card. Hester attempted to hide the phone but the officer informed her that he could see that she was trying to have someone purchase insurance on the car. Hester agreed with the statement. Hester also stated she did smoke marijuana in the vehicle.
In the passenger area, a small clear corner of a sandwich bag was located inside a pink bag and was tied up. Inside the bag was a white powder residue believed to be cocaine. The passenger, Donnie Demons, was detained for possession of cocaine. Demons consistently stated the bag was not his and he did not use cocaine.
Hester stated the powder was not cocaine, but an Oxycontin pill she had crushed up. Hester stated she did have a prescription for Oxycodone.
Hester was placed under arrest for possession of a schedule II controlled substance. A black plastic bag containing several multi-colored pills, which were believed to be ecstasy, were found on Hester’s person. Demons was released from custody. Law enforcement received an unofficial gross weight of 19 grams for the suspected ecstasy.
There were approximately 51 ecstasy pills. Hester received citations for no insurance and suspended registration. Warrants for possession of ecstasy with intent to distribute, drugs to be kept in original container, and possession of a schedule II controlled substance were secured on Hester.
