Two males steal cart full of items at Food Depot
On July 13, law enforcement was dispatched to Food Depot in reference to a theft report. The complainant stated he was informed by an employee of two males leaving the store with a 24 pack of Bud Light, 2 six packs of Sparkles towels, approximately 2-3 boxes Digiorno pizza box, and an unknown amount of crab legs. When reviewing footage, the complainant advised the males left out of the back door near the restrooms of the building and they were unable to see what vehicle they left in on the footage. When the officer reviewed the footage, two males were seen talking to an employee and an unknown female near the restrooms. The males walked out of the back exit of the building. According to the employee, who made contact with the males, he was helping the female find her shopping cart and that when he was about to return to his workstation, the female reported that the cart that the males had was hers. She had noticed her items in the cart and one of the male’s reportedly grabbed the buggy and attempted to walk away with it. The employee further reported that the second unidentified male exited the restroom and questioned the other male on how he grabbed the wrong cart. Reportedly, the males then walked away from the employee and the woman at this time. As the males have yet to be identified, there is nothing further at this time.
$9000 worth of items stolen from storage unit
On July 15, law enforcement responded to a burglary report at Westside Mini Storage. The victim reported arriving at the location to find the door to the unit ajar and he noticed a large quantity of items missing from inside. The victim advised that he had not been to the facility since May 18 and that when he left previously, the unit was secured with a Master-Lock padlock. Law enforcement could not locate the padlock. Three flat screen televisions, three different sized bed sets, a coffee maker, refrigerator, ice maker, and gaming chair were reported missing with an approximate cost of $9000. No security cameras were at the location to review, and the victim is taking further steps to locate serial numbers for the items. There is nothing further at this time.
Pair attempts to shoplift at Walmart
On July 15, law enforcement responded to a shoplifting report at Walmart. Two individuals, identified as Lamont Harden and Jennifer Edwards, were stopped by Loss Prevention. The pair were observed bagging merchandise together and had three shopping carts full of merchandise. According to the report, Edwards was exiting the store with the merchandise when she was stopped by Loss Prevention staff. Staff took her to the customer service counter where Harden met up with her from the bathroom. Loss Prevention processed the items and obtained a receipt of $162.28 worth of merchandise not paid for. According to Loss Prevention, Edward and Harden have shoplifted at Walmart before. The pair were then transported and turned over to Baldwin County Jail and each cited for theft by shoplifting less than $500. In addition, they were each served with a Notice of Prohibited Entry.
Burglar steals $3000 worth of items from apartment
On July 17, law enforcement was dispatched to Edgewood Park Apartments in reference to a burglary. According to the victim, he was out of town when someone entered his family’s apartment and took multiple pairs of shoes, cash and electronics. According to the victim, his father was home during the incident but left several times and they do not regularly lock the doors when leaving the apartment. Law enforcement saw no signs of forced entry. When questioning the father, he reported leaving the residence twice without locking the front door. No subjects have been identified at this time. According to the valued list of items on the report, all the missing items are estimated to be worth about $3,750.
$1000 worth of tools stolen from vehicle
On July 19, law enforcement met with a complainant in reference to stolen tools. According to the complainant, someone stole approximately $1,050 dollars’ worth of tools from his vehicle that was parked in the front of his residence. He reported two Milwaukee Sawzall, a Milwaukee Skill Saw, a Milwaukee Oscillating tool, a Palm Nailer, two 5-amp batteries, and a M12 amp Batteries as stolen. The case is still under investigation.
Female fights Pickle Barrel staff
On July 19, law enforcement was dispatched to Pickle Barrel in reference to a fight. A witness advised officers that the offender, identified as Daesha Liggins, was in the back of the restaurant. When contact was made with Liggins and her father, Liggins reportedly began to act irate, aggressive towards her father, and resisted detainment. Liggins reportedly continued to try and come at her father in an aggressive manner and resist until a witness grabbed her by the shoulders to calm her down. Liggins was transported to the Baldwin County LEC. The witness stated employees advised him of Liggins becoming irate near the bar and that he attempted to get her out of the location. He reported that during this moment, Liggins’ friend tried to calm down Liggins leading to a physical altercation. According to an employee, she was serving Liggins drinks when she became irate and began to yell towards her. Reportedly, Liggins struck the employee twice with a closed fist at the side of her head and on her collarbone. The employee reported that her coworker carried Liggins out of the establishment, and she attempted to fight them as well. Another witness confirmed this account. A third witness showed video footage to law enforcement of Liggins striking the bartender and being escorted outside of the establishment. Charges for affray, terroristic threats, willful obstruction of law enforcement officers, and simple battery will be taken out against Liggins.
