Teen caught with firearm

On March 7, law enforcement was dispatched to apartments at 1498 S.

Jefferson St. in reference to teenagers being loud and smoking marijuana in the hallway. One of the teenagers was reported to be in possession of a gun.

Upon arrival at the building, the officer smelled the odor of marijuana in the hallway. Five males were standing in the second-floor hallway and smoke was visible in the air. The males stated they did not live in the building. As the males were walking down the stairs to leave, as instructed, the officer noticed one of them adjusting his waistband. All the males stated that they did not have a firearm. The officer asked the males to lift up their shirts and turn around, which they all complied to. One of the males, later identified as Jamar Bolston, had bladed his body away when given instructions. All the other males were instructed to leave while Bolston was asked to stay. Upon approaching the second floor to make contact with the male, the officer noticed him reaching for his waistband. They backed Bolston into a corner and removed a firearm that was concealed under his pants. The firearm was a Glock 19 9mm handgun with an extended magazine. The firearm had not been reported as stolen. A state warrant was issued for Bolston for possession of a firearm by a person under the age of 18.

Drunk driver stopped near Quality Pawn

On March 8, an officer was patrolling the 600 block of South Wayne Street when they observed a gray 2011 Ford Focus traveling southbound at 70 mph in a 40-mph zone. The officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and the vehicle stopped in the parking lot beside Quality Pawn (905 S. Wayne St.). The driver, later identified as Latashia Mosley, had the smell of a strong odor of an unknown alcoholic beverage coming from inside of the vehicle. When asked if she knew why she was stopped Mosley stated she may have been swerving. The officer informed Mosley they had stopped her for her speed, and Mosley stated she did not know which gauge she should use to read her speed. The officer explained to her how to read her speed and Mosely stated she drove fast trying to get home. She stated she only had one shot when asked how much she had drunk. Mosley agreed to Field sobriety testing and was determined unsafe to drive. Mosley consented to submit to the state administered breath, which was an administered using the Georgia Intoxilyzer 9000. Mosley tested positive for alcohol with a breath alcohol content of 0.169 grams. She was issued citations for misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol and misdemeanor reckless driving.

Lawn mower stolen from Lowes

On March 10, law enforcement was dispatched to Lowes Home Improvement, at 1731 N. Columbia St., in reference to a theft that already occurred. The store manager stated she was notified by an employee of the theft of a riding mower from the rear of the business.

She stated the cable used to secure the mowers in the rear of the business was cut and a 48 in. John Deere riding mower belonging to a customer to go out on a warranty was missing. It was valued at $2,899. She stated since the mower was in their possession, Lowes would have to replace the one stolen to the customer and Lowes would be the victim. The mower was stolen on Sunday morning.

Camera footage showed a black truck with a trailer enter the southside of the business, go behind the business, and head out on the north end of the business with the riding mower on the trailer.

Homeowner returns to unsecured house

On March 10, law enforcement was dispatched to a 500 W. Franklin St. apartment in reference to a theft. The victim stated that he left his apartment on Dec. 24, 2024, and returned March 9, 2025 to find his home unsecured. His Play Station 5 console and his 50-inch Element Roku television were missing.

The victim stated that he secured his room door when he left and does not know who stole the items.
