Man breaks motel window to get inside customer’s room
On June 30, law enforcement was dispatched to the Budget Inn Motel. The victim reported that someone came to her room and began knocking on the door to be let in. At the time, they were asleep but the knocker awoke her by moving to knock on the window. The knocker, later identified as Julius Franklin White Jr, started knocking so hard that the window broke which scared the victim. The victim stated she hid in the bathroom out of fear and could not call the police because her phone was dead. The manager of the property later called law enforcement when she noticed the window broken. The manager showed surveillance footage to the officer of White knocking and breaking the glass. The officer also observed what appeared to be flesh left visible on the window. On surveillance, this was confirmed when White was observed shaking his hand once he realized he cut himself. The broken window is valued at $300. White was not on the property upon arrival of law enforcement but a warrant for criminal trespass has been secured for him.
Unknown driver runs over water fountain
On July 2, law enforcement responded to the Oconee Greenway in reference to damaged property. The officer located a water fountain approximately 100 feet south of the parking area which appeared to have been run over by a vehicle. The fountain was lying approximately ten feet from its original position with the water line actively running. Tracks were observed in the lawn surrounding the area leading towards the fountain. The City Water Department was notified to have the water shut off and contact was attempted with Greenway management. There are no cameras in the area to review CCTV footage to determine an offender.
Woman returns to find home vandalized
On July 6, law enforcement met with a complainant in reference to a burglary. The complainant said when she arrived home when she noticed her four front windows were shattered. She stated that when she entered the location, she observed her hom had been vandalized and both her front and back door were kicked in. She reported four pictures, a lamp, and three vases were broken. She estimated the $1200 in damages but reported nothing stolen. There is nothing further at this time.
Woman uses torn off price tags to shoplift
On June 7, law enforcement was dispatched to Walmart Super Center in reference to a theft reported. Loss Prevention personnel stated they observed a female subject, later identified as La’Trell Devereux, enter into the self-checkout and scan several items. While scanning, Devereux used torn off price tags to scan other items and then tucked the items inside grocery bags or avoided scanning them at all. When Devereux completed her transaction, she was approached and detained until law enforcement arrived on scene. The items are valued at $107.14 with a total of 13 items. Devereux was cited for theft by shoplifting (first offense).
Woman caught shoplifting at Ollie’s Bargain Outlet
On July 8, law enforcement was dispatched to Ollie’s Bargain Outlet with the complainant in reference to shoplifting. Before an officer arrived on scene, dispatch informed an officer of a female walking across the street in a pink in color shirt. An officer would place Connie Pack in handcuffs and transported her back to Ollie’s Bargain Outlet with her bag. The complainant stated Pack came into the store pushing a buggy with an empty bag but then Pack came back up to the front of the store without the buggy and the bag was full of items. The complainant reported that Pack told her she was going to retrieve her card outside to pay for the items so the complainant advised her to leave the items in the store. However, Pack continued to walk towards the door and was advised if she walked out that the Police Department would be called. The complainant stated that Pack then opened her bag and handed her a three pack of cleaning products and that she further advised Pack to let her see more inside of the bag to give Pack a chance to return the property. Pack chose to walk away from the location instead. Pack was trespassed from the location, transported to the Baldwin County LEC, and charged for theft by shoplifting.
