It was an early Christmas for downtown Milledgeville July 12 at Milledgeville Main Street’s Christmas in July event.
On a hot, sunny day, more than 25 vendors were featured inside and outside the Annex at 127 E. Hancock St., where vendors were selling everything from homemade pecans to handcrafted sports memorabilia.
Among the companies participating was Ivy and Grace Décor. Shop owner Heather Brown said she has been attending events like this for the past couple of years. Although she has a full-time job, Brown said she truly enjoys making fun designs such as door hangers and Christmas ornaments to sell.
“This passion project is so much more than a business to me,” Brown said. “It’s a dream coming to life, bursting with love and dedication.”
Also inside the Annex, Elena Walters presented her business, Crazy Crocheter, featuring crocheted bags, blankets, and animals. She makes each of these items by herself.
Nearby, Crafty Creations displayed portraits of artwork on planks of wood. Gloria Gros uses a cutting-edge wood-working device to cut through the wood to create wilderness themes, like animals, but also creates fun designs such as the Georgia Bulldogs logo on a tumbler or an Avengers design on a coffee cup.
Local artist Emma Berry was among those displaying her artwork outside the Annex. At 16 years old, Berry creates beautiful painted works depicting sunsets as well as mainstream media like Star Wars and the Grinch. Berry said she has been creating art for as long as she can remember and loves sharing her talent with Milledgeville shoppers.
Clements Pecans out of Rutledge offered a sweet, delicious free treat to Christmas in July visitors. The company also was selling hundreds of bags of various-flavored pecans, such as milk chocolate, glazed, and sweet heat.
As the sun set over downtown Milledgeville, the twinkling summer stars reminded attendees and sellers alike that a little holiday spirit goes a long way, no matter the season.
