The Baldwin County Board of Education announced Dr. Kristina Brooks as the sole finalist for the position of superintendent following an extensive selection process. She will replace the current superintendent, Dr. Noris Price, who will retire on June 30.
Brooks, an experienced leader with a demonstrated commitment to academic excellence and student achievement, has served as superintendent of the Chattahoochee County School District for the past six years. Under her leadership, the district has seen an increase in the graduation rate, expanded career and technical education programs, improved student achievement, and implemented strategic financial management practices that have resulted in significant fiscal growth and investment in school infrastructure.
The Baldwin County Board worked with the Georgia School Boards Association to identify the desired characteristics of the new superintendent. Board members adopted qualifications for the position, established a flexible timeline, and approved a recruitment announcement. The search for a new superintendent began with a national application process, which closed on Dec. 2, 2024, with 33 applicants. Candidates went through three rounds of interviews as part of a comprehensive selection process conducted by the Board of Education.
Board Chair Wes Cummings emphasized the importance of transparency and community engagement in the final steps of the hiring process.
“Selecting a superintendent is one of the most important decisions a school board makes. After reviewing applications, conducting interviews, and considering multiple qualified candidates, we are confident in presenting Dr. Kristina Brooks as the best choice for the Baldwin County School District.”
Brooks expressed her enthusiasm for the opportunity to serve Baldwin County Schools.
“I am fueled by a deep passion for ‘dreaming big’ for our students and community,” Brooks said. “I believe every child deserves an education that opens doors to opportunities, and I am committed to ensuring Baldwin County Schools continue to set the bar high.”
To ensure public access to relevant candidate information, the Baldwin County School District has released a public information candidate packet detailing Dr. Brooks’ qualifications, experience, and vision for the district. The final Board vote on Dr. Brooks’ appointment will occur following the 14-day review period, which is required by law.
