Arlene Simmons, a current officer on the Central State Hospital Local Redevelopment Authority, appointed through the governor’s office, is seeking the District 2 city council seat in Milledgeville.
Simmons was born and raised in Milledgeville and sees the community as more than just home “It’s the heart of who I am.
For two decades I’ve dedicated my life to service: as a mom of three beautiful children, a nurse, a community advocate, and a hands-on problem solver,” said Simmons. “After learning that the City Council District 2 seat was going to be vacated, I decided to run because I believe our district deserves leadership that listens, takes action and delivers results.”
Simmons’ priorities include strengthening the local economy, ensuring District 2 has a voice, and working on community- based solutions to lower crime.
“My company has created programs like Job Ready to assist in obtaining employment, established affordable childcare options, an autism support group for families in need, created jobs and helped secure $2 million in funding that has directly benefited Milledgeville,” said Simmons.
“For me, this is about continuing the work that I’ve already started, such as providing job opportunities, resources, and a safer Milledgeville. I am a voice with proven results.”
