Tigers bully Bulldogs in fourth loss

The GMC Prep Bulldogs (0-4) suffered another tough loss last Friday, falling 47-14 while hosting the Washington-Wilkes Tigers (2-1) at Davenport Field.

GMC looked better two weeks ago when it played at Brentwood Academy, competing for three-quarters of the game before the score got away from the Bulldogs in the fourth quarter.

In their matchup against the Tigers, it was a close first quarter with Washington-Wilkes scoring first on a 49-yard rushing touchdown in what looked like it would be another runaway victory over the Bulldogs.

But GMC answered with a long drive, including a 23-yard pass completion from Logan McMillan to Johnathan Roach that set up a 25-yard McMillan touchdown pass to Parker Edens to tie things up.

Washington Wilkes would answer with another touchdown drive, however, to retake the lead before taking complete control with a safety as the Tigers defense sacked the GMC ball carrier in the endzone to take a 16-7 lead.

The Tigers would score two more touchdowns and make a 6-yard field goal before halftime to take a commanding 33-7 lead into halftime.

The dominant performance by Washington Wilkes resumed in the third quarter, as they went 60 yards downfield on their first drive, capped off by a 10-yard rushing touchdown to take a 40-7 lead.

GMC did manage to score one more touchdown on the night, as Jessie Washington had a 16-yard score to cap off another tough night for the Bulldogs.

The Tigers then scored once more to reach the 47-14 final and dropping GMC Prep’s record to 0-4 this season.

GMC will travel to Gainesville this Friday to face longtime rival Riverside Military Academy in what could provide a major boost for the Bulldogs if history repeats. The Bulldogs earned their first win last season against the Eagles with a 54-12 performance.
