Georgia Military Prep lost its third straight game of the season by a 28-13 decision.
The Bulldogs were visiting the Brentwood War Eagles in Sandersville, where they played a close first half, but were overwhelmed after halftime.
Brentwood took an early lead in the contest with the War Eagles earning a 7-0 advantage in the opening quarter and holding a 13-0 lead early in the second quarter.
The Bulldogs eventually responded with Jessie Washington rushing to score before the half ended. After tacking on the extra point, Brentwood’s lead was cut to six points.
However, another War Eagles touchdown late in the second quarter, followed by a successful two-point conversion returned Brentwood to a solid 21-7 cushion. However, when play resumed, Washington again provided the Bulldogs with some much-needed hope with an interception right before the quarter ended with Brentwood leading 21-7.
The Bulldogs would carry that momentum into an early third-quarter scoring drive that saw GMC quarterback Nate McMillan complete a five-yard pass to Johnathan Roach for a touchdown, cutting Brentwood’s lead down to 21-13.
However, Brentwood kept GMC out of the end zone for the remainder of the game and sealed its victory with a one-yard rushing touchdown followed by the extra point to reach the final score.
Though GMC did struggle, it showed improvement by scoring its most points in a game to date this season, while allowing its least number of points against, as well.
